Like shy girls?

Mushroom is a delicate little 10 month-old cat who prefers to stay out of the spotlight.

When Mushroom has had enough attention, instead of swatting or biting, she gives us a short meow that sounds almost exactly like she's saying "no."

And we listen!

She's learning to enjoy gentle head scratches, but being picked up is still a firm "no." She loves her soft cat house perched above the kennels, where she can curl up and people-watch.

Mushroom has made a lot of progress since coming to us, but she's still a shy girl. She needs a quiet, patient home with someone who won't rush her or take her hesitation personally.

If you have a soft spot for introverts, come meet Mushroom. Just don't drain her social battery. 😉

Fall is for finding someone to stick close to.

Tinley is half Doberman. Surprised? We’re not anymore. She has to be touching you at all times. She sits on feet, leans into legs, or even just keeps one back paw on you.

She wants to be your one and only, and when Tinley bonds, she bonds hard.

Bentley has had a week!

Bentley got neutered yesterday and did awesome at the vet. He met some new friends and came back to us looking… slightly more poodle than doodle. 😂

He got a fresh start on his heavy matting and is feeling much better.

None of us here can get a picture of his tail in focus because it never stops wagging, but we’re more than okay with that.

Help us spread the word about this sensitive 10-month-old boy and find him the home he’s been waiting for!

It’s doodle time! 🌪️

Bentley is a 10-month-old Goldendoodle with big feelings, long legs, and he's trying to figure out both at once.

He knows sit, and when he remembers what you asked, he sits up tall with regal composure. Every other movement looks like two people in a horse costume.

Bentley can seem reactive with both new people and dogs, but what we’re seeing is a puppy who gets excited and unsure all at once. The more people and dogs he meets, the more comfortable he becomes, especially with dogs. He has already decided that shelter staff are for sitting on, and we don’t want to ruin his dreams of becoming a 70-pound lap dog.

Bentley is goofy, affectionate, full-throttle, and still learning his social etiquette. Basically, he’s a big puppy learning how to be a dog. Doodles often need owners prepared for their high-energy and training needs, and Bentley will need someone willing to put in the time and consistency to help him reach his potential.

Another successful Old Bill’s!

We are so grateful for another incredible turnout from our community. We are also happy to announce that Tilly found her forever family!

Tilly came to Old Bill’s as one of our adoptable dogs, spent the day meeting new friends, and found her people right there in the crowd.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, met our dogs, shared their stories, and donated to Teton County Animal Shelter. Your support helps us continue caring for dogs like Tilly and all of her friends still waiting at the shelter.

We feel incredibly lucky to be part of a community that shows up for its animals year after year.

Thank you, Jackson!

This is what Old Bill’s means to us.

Every year, we take plenty of pictures at our booth. We do an annual photo dump of our dogs meeting people, giveaways, smiling faces, and all the fun that comes with Old Bill’s.

But this year, one of our favorite photos happened at somebody else’s booth.

Jackson is a tight-knit community, which means we see our dogs all the time. We see them hiking, walking around town, and living the lives we hoped they would find when they were here with us.

And sometimes, we get a moment like this.

Lulu spotted Jill, one of the people who cared for her while she was at the shelter, and bounded over to see her.

Our dogs know us. They build relationships with us. While they’re here, we put everything we have into getting to know them, helping them through whatever brought them to us, and giving them the best chance possible at succeeding.

That’s where your donations go.

They go into the walks, training, enrichment, medical care, patience, and advocacy. They give us the resources and time to treat every animal who comes through our doors like an individual worth investing in.

And if you’ve been meaning to give through Old Bill’s, there’s still time. Friday is the final day to donate!

Our booth was wonderful, the gifts were fun, and Tilly got adopted. Seeing everyone who stopped by meant so much to us.

But if you want to know what your support of Teton County Animal Shelter really looks like, we think this photo says it better than we ever could.

It looks like Lulu looking at Jill.

From all of us at Teton County Animal Shelter, thank you to everyone who has donated so far and helped make moments like this possible in our community.

These two have been with us for a few days, and before we get too attached to calling them Blackie and Mushroom, we want to make sure no one recognizes them.

Blackie has made himself very easy to get to know. He reaches through his kennel to grab your sleeve for attention, wants to be held, wants to explore the shelter, and will yell at us if he thinks he has been left alone for too long. Personal space is not really his thing.

Mushroom is a much quieter little soul. She was caught in a live trap that had been set for someone else and came to us very scared. She is still unsure about human touch, but she has started meowing at us. She hasn’t tried to bite or swat, but instead gives us a little meow when she is overwhelmed and ready to be left alone for a while. We think she is very young, and we have a feeling we’ll see more of her sweet personality as she starts to feel safe.

Do either Blackie or Mushroom look familiar to you? If you recognize either cat, please contact Teton County Animal Shelter.

Rambo and Rocky will be at Old Bill’s!

Your favorite duo is coming to the Old Bill’s Fun Run this Saturday, with a new friend in tow: Tilly!

Come say hi, meet three of our adoptable dogs, and stop by the Teton County Animal Shelter booth for free gifts. Rambo, Rocky, and Tilly are also bringing adoption flyers from their shelter friends who are a little too shy to attend such a crowded event!

And don’t forget: every donation to Town of Jackson Animal Shelter through Old Bill’s will be matched, helping your contribution go even further for the animals in our care.

Rambo, Rocky, and Tilly will see you Saturday!

Meet our newest girl!

Five-year-old Matilda was surrendered to Teton County Animal Shelter when her owner realized they didn’t have enough time to give her.

Tilly loves Frisbees, swimming, kids, and accidentally knocking things over with her Lab body. She’s also good with other dogs. She’ll politely drop the ball in front of you and then bark at you until you throw it.

Basically, she has all the classic Labrador settings installed and functioning properly.

If your ideal companion is happy, social, and occasionally clumsy, come meet Tilly at Teton County Animal Shelter!
