Jackson, MI Chapter of BPW International - Supporting Professional Leadership & Business Development for Women (Mentoring, Networking, Skill Building, Economic Empowerment Projects, and Advocating for Legislative Issues Affecting Women & Their Families) Join Jackson Business and Professional Women. Jackson BPW is a local organization in one of the largest women’s organizations. BPW is committed to

raising public awareness of health and family concerns and legislative issues for women. Jackson BPW meets the first and third Monday from noon to 1:15 PM at Cascades Manor House. A business meeting is held the first Monday of each month and provides an overview of the workings of our organization. Program meetings are held on the third Monday of the month featuring various speakers on topics of interest to our members. Our membership is open to anyone who supports our ideals, beliefs and mission statement. Visitors are welcome at any of our meetings where we will be pleased to answer questions and provide information about Jackson BPW and our region, state and national affiliations. Meet one of our panelists...Shawna Tello

Shawna Tello has been employed by the Jackson YMCA since November 2002, holding the position of CEO since August 2017. Shawna also held positions with the Y in Youth Development, Membership, Healthy Living, Fund Development, and Marketing. Shawna earned her bachelor's degree in psychology and has completed additional courses in social work and education. Shawna is certified by the YMCA of the USA as an Organizational Leader; she also completed Indiana University Executive Fundraising Institute for nonprofit leaders and Michigan College Access Network’s Maritime Academy with fellow Jackson Collaborative Network council members.

Shawna serves on the board of directors for the Jackson Interfaith Shelter and the Center for Family Health. She has over 25 years of management experience in nonprofit, social service, and athletic sectors.

Shawna was born and raised in Jackson and currently resides in the city with her husband, Jim Tello, employed by Consumers Energy. Shawna enjoys group exercise classes, jogging in city and county parks, and attending community events.

Shawna's Fun Fact - She is the first female CEO of Jackson's Young Men's Christian Association and raised more private funding for a YMCA capital project than any other YMCA in the state.

Meet one of our panelists...Hannah Schauer

As Executive Director of The Dahlem Conservancy, Hannah Schauer leads a team dedicated to bringing environmental education and outdoor experiences to our community. Hannah believes that providing opportunities to connect and engage with nature and the environment are important for healthy, resilient people and communities. Dahlem, Jackson’s Nature Place, aims to provide nature-based experiences for everyone and nurture deep connections with our environment. Take time to get outside today!

Meet one of our panelists...Vittoria Jimerson-Overmyer

Vittoria has a passion for empowering women and girls and encouraging them to pursue their dreams and excel in all they do! Vittoria has found her home here in Jackson to be one of passion, purpose and faith, realizing that God places you where he wants you to do his work.

Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Vittoria. obtained her bachelor’s degree from Capital University in Public Administration, her master’s degree in business administration and marketing from Franklin University. She completed her Ph.D. in Organizational Development and is currently completing her Doctorate in Education from Gwynedd Mercy University (2026).

Vittoria retired from the Department of Defense after over 20 years, focusing on Logistics, Operations and Contracting. Vittoria is currently a Professor of Logistics for the Department of Defense (Defense Acquisition University). Vittoria has also achieved her Certificate in Early Childhood Education, Certification in Cybersecurity, Certification in Medical Billing and Coding and completed the Real Estate One Academy: Salesperson’s Fundamentals of Real Estate and Fair Housing Instruction Certification.

She is the owner of V. Jimerson Consulting LLC, and Gems of Jackson Childcare and Education Center (focused on STEM/STEAM based learning), as well as the Founder and Executive Director of The Welcome Home Organization. Vittoria has previously taught at Baker College (Auburn Hills, MI), Northwood University (Troy, MI), and Lansing Community College in the areas of Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Contracting, and Corporate Trainings.

Thanks to the one and only Shirley Zeller for giving the Jackson BPW a presentation on the importance of Robert's Rules of Order when running a meeting on Monday June 1st. Shirley even gifted Robin, Jackson BPW, President her gavel from her time with the Iowa BPW.
