In a wild corner of the Philippines, the War On Terror has taken on a fascinating new form. Right at the frontline, love and kindness, even love for enemies, began to confront violent extremism. Over the past several years, Jesus' message of loving enemies has gone viral in a place notorious for kidnappings, terrorism, and civil war. Even the military has taken up strategies that are inspired by the Sermon on the Mount.
After decades of violence, peace is now taking hold as a direct result of the teachings of Jesus being lived out. It's crazy, ludicrous even, to love an enemy. But that insanity is accomplishing what no violence ever could!
Glad World, together with Hope Team and Mercy Chefs Global, has had the great joy of playing a very small part in this, partnering with local churches, community leaders, and even the armed forces, to show the love of God in communities long impacted by extremism.
Something beautiful is unfolding.
