To engage youth and young adults as they break down barriers to gain mental wellness and utilize their strengths and voice against the stigma of mental health.VISION STATEMENT

VISION STATEMENT

We envision a statewide movement where youth and young adults are empowered to use their voice to ensure quality mental health care services that achieve positive and lasting mental wellness.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES

Ownership - We are guided by youth and young adults and are committed to letting their voice and choice drive the process towards mental wellness.

Safe Zone - We support a nonjudgemental platform and environment for youth and young adults as they use their backgrounds, experiences, choices, and actions to expand the conversation and work around mental health.

Collaboratives - We will utilize our strengths as we collaborate with service providers to educate the community on mental wellness support services.

Outreach Communication - We will create awareness among all systems serving youth and young adults to ensure that they are engaging in strategies that promote positive mental wellness.

Community Oriented - We will address the unique needs of each community and value the diversity of those communities and its members.

Outcomes Driven - We strive to create positive outcomes for youth and young adults through effective identification of services and support.

Participation - We engage and participate in events and activities that promote mental wellness for youth and young adults.

OUR IMPACT

By using our collective voices we seek to:

Remove the stigma and stereotypes that prevent people from seeking mental health services.

Make Mississippians aware of the prevalence of mental illness and its effect on youth and young adults.

Advocate for mental wellness services specifically for youth and young adults age 18-26 years. Advocacy efforts will include:

Making health services affordable

Streamlining and simplifying the process of obtaining services.

Providing access to more centers for treatment, more availability to treatment, including times that support school and work schedules and identifying options to meet transportation needs.

Creating a social media platform that identifies resources and services within communities that can be accessed.

Advocating for more state funding for mental health services.
