Dear Teton FreeRider Friends,
We have some very important and bittersweet news about the Teton Pass downhill trails and their future management.
After 20 years of working obsessively to create a world-class network of gravity flow trails on Teton Pass, the Board of the Teton FreeRiders has merged the organization into Friends of Pathways. This was not an easy decision for us, but after 20 years, we need to free up some space in our lives to pursue other passions and projects.
We are incredibly proud of our accomplishments, the community advocacy and sweat equity that built this first-of-its-kind recreational asset for Teton County. The downhill trails have broadened the valley’s already diverse trail network, that serve the full-spectrum of users – from families, to teens, to professional riders and general fun-havers. These trails set the bar for what’s possible.
And the good news is that the trails will remain world-class. In fact, TFR founding member, board member, and dig director, Harlan Hottenstein, has joined the FOP trail crew and will be maintaining and improving trails this spring, as usual.
So, while it is bittersweet to close this chapter of history, we are excited to begin the next chapter! We are confident that our long-time partner, FOP, not only has the capacity to deliver the same quality product, but they have the capacity to elevate what TFR has begun. Thanks for being a part of something cool and for your continued support for the downhill system through Friends of Pathways.
See you out there this summer!
Sincerely,
The TFR Board
