Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild Jackson Michigan Welcome to Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild located in Jackson, Michigan.

We were formed in January of 1990 by a small group that had an interest in quilting. Our members now vary in experience and style but share the desire to promote quilting and improve our quilting abilities. Our guild provides the opportunity to meet other quilters and share ideas, talents, and knowledge regarding all aspects of quilting. The membership in the guild provides quarterly newsletters,

monthly guild meetings, access to the guild library, and the friendship and support of other enthusiastic quilters. Annual dues are $35 with a junior membership (age 18 and under) for $10. The Pieces and Patches Quilt Guild meets the last Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Ella Sharp Museum Community Room at 3225 Fourth St, Jackson, MI 49203.

Happy New Year! Today was our 1st Vintage Sew Day of the year! We had a good turnout, and a lot got done. Talking, discussing, machine cleanings, giving opinions, oh and sewing! Quilts were shown, sorry that I didn't get a picture of Dawn's Dear Jane quilt. We trimmed (shaved) pieces, chained stitched, adjusted an apron pattern, and Robin worked on her beautiful squares, and I didn't get a picture of those either, sorry.

Tomorrow is the Sew Day at Rivertree Church on Lansing Avenue from 10:00-4:00, bring your sewing things, $5, and we'll see you there! 🙂✂️🪡🧵❤️

Gosh, we had around 12 ladies today (1 newbie because she wanted to see what we do 🙂), and a couple of visitors. We made quilt tops, talked about the upcoming Oxbow Tote project, including checking out studs, and rivets, and that kind of stuff, and a couple of Christmas gifts were finished, napkins were made, and paper piecing was worked on. The next Sew Day is August 5th, hope to see you there! ✂️🪡🧵🙂

Yesterday's Sew Day brought 6 or 7 gals. We did have a couple of visitors, and we helped one visitor with a question she had about curtains she had made. We cleaned the bobbin case of one Featherweight (thought I took a pic, but I guess I didn't 🤷‍♀️), we did counted cross stitch and slow stitching, and quilt piecing. We made Christmas stockings and Christmas gifts, and of course we chatted and learned. 🙂🪡✂️🧵

Thank you, Mo for all you did to set up the 4H Sew Days! The kids, and adults, all had a great time learning to sew, among all the other aspects of sewing! Their choices were a stuffed owl, a drawstring bag, and a pillowcase. A couple of moms learned, or brushed up on their sewing skills, and made a pillowcase. One grandma may join the Guild! Some of the kids can't appear on Social Media, so that's why you can't see some of their faces. Another session may be planned for Fall. 🪡✂️🧵🙂

Today was day 2 of Sew Camp. I didn't get as many pictures today, as I did yesterday. We all worked hard, and discussed many sewing things! Thank you to the ladies who helped other ladies with questions or issues. Lunch was great again, thank you Patricia Rayl ! 🙂🪡🍊🧵

I attended Sew Camp at The Coop today, I haven't been to Sew Camp in a bit. We all worked on different things. I'm making baskets for Christmas so I was practicing those. There was Halloween things being made, Detroit Lions things made. And stars, I saw stars, being made. And because I was busy, I didn't see everything that was going on, but did get a picture of everyone, I think. Thank you, Patricia Rayl for the food, and thank you to those that made salads and cookies, etc., it all tasted good. I came home, grabbed some more threads and fabrics for tomorrow, and now I'm going to bed, so that tomorrow comes quicker! 😴❤️✂️🪡🧵🤭

It seems like forever since I've been to a Sew Day, as I missed both of them in May. Today we had a good turnout. Some worked on quilts using their scraps, some binded a quilt, baskets were made, a Shop Hop bag was shown, an antique machine was brought in (that I believe is for sale), a blue jean quilt was worked on, a lot of paper piecing was going on, and some weren't quite sure what they were going to do! Again, it was a nice day! 🙂🧵🪡✂️

Day 1 of "early" 8:00 p.m. check-in that started at 10:00 a.m. We got here, thank you Val and Angelia for driving! We did the Quilt Walk in downtown Chesaning, visited the Creative Passions Crop & Quilt Retreat and then drove to their Quilt Shop! Then we drove and visited Seven Sisters Quilt Shop! Went back to Chesaning, and met the rest of the group (of 24) at Don Felipe's Mexican Restaurant for dinner. After dinner, we (un)patiently waited for the high school guys ( too cute! ❤️) to haul all of our things inside. We got settled, and some sewed, and some went to bed! Today will be a full day of sewing! ✂️🪡🧵🙂

Why does my longarmer need so much extra fabric?

See examples below. Also if the front and the back are not perfectly square, the top might extend past the backing. There are probably things I am not thinking of at the moment. They are not asking for extra just to be difficult. 😥
