This is the only state that was banning people convicted of any felony from voting for life. Virginians have an opportunity to end that system for good in November.

More than 60 years after the original Freedom Summer, we are still fighting for the freedom to vote, learn, live safely, and build power in our own communities.

From Juneteenth through Election Day, organizers, faith leaders, students, workers, and communities across the country are mobilizing for a new season of action.

Because the attacks are connected.
Voting rights.
Education.
Housing.
Economic freedom.
Democracy itself.

After the Supreme Court’s Callais decision gutted key protections in the Voting Rights Act, communities across the South were left even more vulnerable to voter suppression and political attacks. But we know our power has never depended on the courts alone. It has always come from the people.

This summer, we organize everywhere.

Essence Festival has ended, but the movement continues.

During that weekend, we had the privilege of reaching thousands with a simple but urgent message: Your voice counts. Democracy is strongest when people are informed, engaged, and empowered to participate.

Thank you to everyone who visited us, asked questions, registered, and joined the movement. We’ll continue organizing, educating, and advocating until every community has equitable access to the ballot box. See you in the community.

We had an inspiring day at the Mississippi State Capitol for We Must Vote’s Advocacy Day, bringing together students from Mississippi Valley State University, Tougaloo College, Mississippi Delta Community College, Hinds Community College (Raymond Campus), and Mississippi State University for a hands-on experience in advocacy and civic engagement. Participants learned about the legislative process, heard from leaders, explored the work of key legislative committees, and gained a deeper understanding of how to make their voices heard. We concluded the day with lunch and fellowship in the historic Farish Street District at Johnny T’s, reflecting on the importance of preparing the next generation of civic leaders. Thank you to everyone who joined us as we continue building informed, engaged, and empowered communities across Mississippi.
