We did it again!
Another successful ACT Summer Workshop at Jim Hill High School sponsored by LeFleur's Bluff (MS) Chapter. The positive learning environment, strong student participation, and collaborative support from school personnel contributed significantly to the program's success. Dr. Carrie Walker and Coach Angelia Johnson were able to share a substantial amount of instructional content, test-taking strategies, and academic support throughout the training. They reported from the first day through the conclusion of the program, the school administration, faculty, and staff created a welcoming environment that supported teaching and learning. The level of student engagement allowed facilitators to maximize instructional time and provide students with numerous opportunities to practice essential skills needed for ACT success. The training provided students with exposure to ACT-tested content, effective test-taking strategies, and structured opportunities to strengthen foundational skills. Students were encouraged to think critically, justify their reasoning, and apply multiple approaches when solving problems.
Throughout the sessions, facilitators observed strong effort, persistence, and a willingness to learn. Students became increasingly comfortable with the expectations of ACT-style questions and demonstrated growth in confidence as they worked through challenging tasks. Our chapter is appreciative of our consultants. Kudos to our chapter members who attended sessions throughout the seven days. We look forward to future opportunities to support student achievement, academic growth, and college and career readiness initiatives through our Links Love HBCUs - Program Stream 1.
