Announcing Brad Watson Creative Writing Fund

The Department of English honors Brad Watson by announcing the Brad Watson Creative Writing Fund. Brad Watson was a brilliant and beloved professor at the University of Wyoming for 15 years. A founding faculty member and former director of the MFA Program in Creative Writing, Brad mentored dozens of emerging writers with wit, wisdom, and soul.

The Creative Writing Program at the University of Wyoming attracts marvelous interdisciplinary students from across the country. They are talented, vivid, and committed artists. Brad’s storytelling legacy and generous mentoring will live through this fund for years to come, supporting research, travel, and summer stipends for both BA and MFA creative writing students.

Our programs include an independent day school, outdoor learning experiences, wildlife expeditions, educational consulting, and programming at the historical Murie Ranch.

Our Almost Authors summer camps are coming up next month. This year, young writers (ages 9-14ish) get to work with two extraordinary authors: Chris Tebbetts and Nanci Turner Steveson. The chance for kids to learn fro. Such amazing writers in such a small-group, in-depth program is rare. Don’t miss it.
August 17-21. Mornings with Chris Tebbetts. Afternoons with Nanci Turner Steveson. Or both!

Nonfiction writers, you’ll definitely want to be at the Jackson Hole Writers Conference on October 21-25 to meet and learn from Mallory O’Meara. Her intensive workshop, focused on writing a nonfiction proposal, will move your project forward, and her conference class on making the transition from writer to author will move you along your path toward reaching readers.
