Mississippi Recycling Coalition

Mississippi Recycling Coalition Established in 1997 to promote responsible solid waste management through recycling.

The main purpose of the MRC is to develop a membership base that will represent the entities identified in the mission statement. The Mississippi Recycling Coalition plans to inform and educate the membership, members of government, the Mississippi community, and the general public on the economic and environmental significance of source reduction, reuse, recyling, and composting through activitie

s such as meetings, conferences, seminars, publications, curricula, and other professional development means. The MRC assists members in improving their skills and techniques regarding source reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting technologies. We support the implementation and continuation of sustainable source reduction, reuse, recycling, and composting programs throughout the state. MRC promotes the development of recycling industries in Mississippi that collect and process recyclable goods for use as a raw material, encourages the development of industries in Mississippi that use significant amounts of recovered materials in the production of usable goods, and promotes purchasing and using products that include recycled content. We provide information to the Mississippi Legislature for direction in legislation on solid waste issues and monitor pending solid waste legislation.
