May 27 = National Sunscreen Day (also known as “Don't Fry Day”) It's a perfect time to get in the habit of wearing sunscreen to protect your skin from sun damage. The day reminds us that the sun's harmful UV rays pose threats to our skin — and our health

😎 reminds us all to protect our skin from the harmful rays of the sun☀️. This cheerful sun appeared on Argentinian coins of a number of denominations throughout the 19th century. Argentina was a colony of the Spanish empire from the 16th century until it gained independence in 1816. Like most of Latin America, it was an enormous source of silver for the Spanish colonials, and “Argentina” is derived from the Latin word for silver.

May 26 = World Dracula Day
Bram Stoker's Gothic horror novel Dracula was first published on today's date in 1897, by Archibald Constable and Company in Britain.
It was first printed in the United States two years later, by Doubleday & McClure of New York City. Although not the first novel about vampires, it became a model for the genre, and laid the foundation for future vampire stories, with its introduction of the character Count Dracula.
The most iconic vampire of all time, Bram Stoker’s Dracula, was based on a real historical figure. III of Wallachia (Romania) was the real-life inspiration behind Stoker’s gothic horror novel.

Today is 🧛‍♂‍, the day we honour Bram Stoker’s classic horror novel Dracula, published in 1897. The inspiration for Count Dracula was Vlad III, “Vlad the Impaler” a 15th century ruler of Wallachia, south of Transylvania. He does appear on a coin, but we don’t have it. We can offer you similar a coin of Sigismund Báthory, a 16th century Transylvanian prince who exhibited no signs of vampirism.

Take a close look at these 1893 ten-cent pieces. You may notice that the 3’s are different styles. Or you may not. But a coin geek certainly would. One is the flat top three and the other the round top three (R3, F3). The rounded three is the rarer coin. Today we celebrate our geeks on 🤓. Where would currency history be without them?!
