The Peoples Assembly, Jackson MS

The Peoples Assembly, Jackson MS People's Platform The guiding principle of the Peoples’ Platform is that love combined with the power of the people will produce meaningful progress.

Progress will be measured by the degree of respect, security, economic development, and political self-determination enjoyed by the people of Ward 2 and our City. Love, as the cornerstone of this platform, represents not only how we feel about each other, but the manner in which we build for each other and for ourselves. We must demonstrate love through leadership. We must show love in the way we

operate together in unity for the empowerment of the people of our City. We love our City, and we desire to continue developing it by observing and living in accordance with positive human values, and by teaching (to do likewise) our children in a productive educational system that reaffirms their self-worth and cultivates their gifts. Therefore, our mission must be based upon:

L - Leadership
O - Operational Unity
V - Values
E - Education

Our ability to achieve our objectives rests within our:

P - People, Public Safety, and Public Health System:
O - Organization
W - Workers’ rights, women’s rights, and wages:
E - Economic Growth:
R - Reconstruction of the city’s infrastructure (streets drainage, housing etc), revitalization of neighborhoods, and fair restitution to victims of injustice and recklessness. The Peoples’ Platform will pursue the following initiatives.

Join us this Thursday at the Lumumba Center to talk about Systems Change not Climate Change and our ongoing work to make Jackson a sustainable city.

The 10th commemorative anniversary of Hurricane Katrina and Rita, is the stark reminder that climate change is real, is happening now, and will have a disproportionate impact on Black and working class communities.
