YPOP and the Saul Trail Post 246 Auxiliary are pleased and honored on this Veteran’s Day Celebration to have as our keynote speaker, Jackson Chief of Police, Chief Christopher Simpson. A Veteran of United States Army Infantryman and Michigan National Guard, he has committed his life to serve in every capacity with dignity and respect.

And as a great leader he serves the mature as well as the youth. We celebrate our youth, who are a very important part of what we do in the community. We thank Jackson High, and teacher Kelly Splear for a musical performance by the Jackson High school Orchestra, with members from our own YPOP Youth Advisory Board.

YPOP Director of Veteran’s and Memorial Day programs, Master Seargent Katrina Davis Johnson and co Director Air Force Veteran Justin Counts, Along with Legion and Auxiliary presidents, Navy Veteran Dennis Cotton and Pearl Payne, don’t want you to miss the words of expression by Veterans and 101st Infantry Army Division Infantrymen Elder Carl Parker, and the presentation by the 102nd Colored Troop, Maurice Imhoff, and our very own historical figures Leslie and Kipp Bowles, who are the great granddaughters of freedom seeker and Emma Nichols, who escaped slavery and came to Jackson in the 1800s.

Please don’t miss Community Artist, Navy Veteran, Jerome Washington, who has been sharing his artistic skills for years in the Jackson community, drawing pictures in the schools and community, still to this day. He probably has drawn a picture of you and your child. He is known for his Veterans drawings, and his Tuskegee Airman Collection, we are honored to celebrate these Veterans and many more.
Celebrate and Honor.
