Today we met the first recipient of this year’s scholarship, Ryley Styer. This one is a special one! Dad would have been thrilled to know Ryley received his scholarship! Ryley’s dad, Ron was a former JHS football player that dad loved to watch and Ryley was on the team that finally got dad his state championship.
Ryley is headed to Missouri Baptist to play football in the fall. We wish him well on the next chapter!

Today we got the pleasure to sit down with counselors at JHS and look over applicants for the scholarship. We were blown away by the talent and accomplishments of the class of 2022! So many amazing kids! He wouldn’t have been surprised as he knew Jackson was the best school around and the kids lucky enough to go there were the best of best!

We hope everyone has a great end to their school year!

It’s Jimbo’s 83rd birthday today! We celebrate him often but today especially!

There are many ways to honor and keep his spirit alive on his birthday: Make friends with a stranger at the grocery store, talk some football with a friend, belly laugh and do it LOUDLY, love your people hard, and enjoy every bit of life you can! These are all things that he did so well and we can do it too!

We love having this scholarship available and if anyone is so inclined to honor him by donating to it please contact the Jackson R-2 Foundation for how to do it!

Have a great day and take a little time to smile, laugh, and remember the man! Happy Birthday!!!

Today we were so fortunate to meet and visit with the inaugural recipients of the Jim Woeltje Scholarship!

Grace Crowden and Ty Moran are wonderful young people with a spirit and personality that completely shine! Dad would have loved them!! Both are exactly the perfect recipients and truly live like dad!

They have bright futures! Grace will be playing soccer at SEMO in the fall while Ty will be pursuing a degree in Business Administration at Arkansas State University. We can’t wait to see how far they go!!

Congrats to both and their wonderful families!

Jim Woeltje loved Jackson more than just about anyone. He grew up in our vibrant community and strived every day to help make it as he called it, “God’s Chosen Country”.

He loved Jackson R-2 and served it all the days of his life. You could find him on the sidelines of sports games(especially football), in the crowd of a choir performance, in the classroom, and serving as an R-2 board member for two terms.

When he passed away in January of 2021 we wanted to continue the Jim Woeltje legacy and influence on this town and it’s kids so we established the Jim Woeltje Memorial Scholarship to be awarded to one female and one male student each graduating year.

When coming up with the parameters of the scholarship requirements, we wanted students who truly embody the Jim Woeltje spirit. Students who may not always have straight As but are good citizens, have good character, show school spirit, and are committed to serving our great community.

Stay tuned to the page for ways you can help the scholarship serve our students and keep his infectious spirit alive for years to come!
