Meet the brains behind this wonderful FREE photography event: Jeremy Rasnic! He calls Jackson home. Read about him and why he created this event!
I've called Jackson, Tennessee home since 1998 when I moved here to attend Union University. I graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and a minor in Art. While Jackson is my home, most of my business endeavors have taken place outside of West Tennessee. I’ve licensed my work to the likes of Facebook, Canon USA, AutoZone, and HSBC, as well as many others. I’ve been on sponsored trips ranging from as far away as Australia to right here in the state of Tennessee. I have repeat clients based both here in the US and abroad. You have probably even seen my work on billboards, websites, or in magazines, without knowing they were mine.
Looking back over the years and seeing what the Lord has done in my life, I recognize that I have a lot to be thankful for. The Lord has truly blessed me, and because of that blessing, I want to find a way to be a blessing to others. Opportunities to help others, knowing full well that they have nothing they can give in return, have proven to be some of the most impactful times in my life. This type of work is most satisfying, most fulfilling, and most heart-warming. I believe another name for this is love, and I wanted to find a way to love well the community I call home.
This is what led me to start dreaming about how I might impact lives right here in Jackson, TN. Thus, the idea for Come Together For Jackson was born.
So, I built out a website over a weekend, pitched the idea to Mayor Conger the following Monday, and received his blessing. I then reached out to a handful of local photographers who all bought into the vision of giving back to our community. Now, we are mere weeks away from making this event a reality.
One of the main stipulations I had going into this, was that there would be no sponsors. I wanted to keep the focus on the purpose and the people we are serving. This is a community event. It’s being done by people who passionately care and truly want to give back to make Jackson better. Not one of the photographers who signed up for this event expects anything in return. And somehow, it’s better that way.
My hope is that Come Together for Jackson will be a blessing to those who can benefit the most from free professional photography. I don’t want it to end there, however. I would love to see another group pick up the torch next year and offer a similar event within their service field under the Come Together for Jackson banner. Even more so, I’d love to see this kind of vision spread to the surrounding areas. Just because this vision started in Jackson, it doesn’t mean it has to stay in Jackson. If you are interested in starting something similar in your community, please reach out. I’ll be happy to share my resources, insights, and materials with you.
Let’s make a difference in our community. Let’s come together for Jackson!
