Last week we learned that God isn’t absent when He is silent. We tackled a difficult passage where Jesus seems to be out of character. In our Gospel lesson from Matthew, a desperate mother refuses to give up, even when the answer she’s looking for does not come easily. Her encounter with Jesus reminds us that great faith does not mean having all the answers—it means knowing where to go when we don’t.

This week, Jesus asks a defining question: “Who do you say that I am?” We’ll discover how Peter’s answer and Paul’s call to become “living sacrifices” show us that following Jesus is much more than believing the right things—it is about becoming disciples whose lives are transformed. And we’ll explore five practical ways to live as disciples: know Christ, offer ourselves, renew our minds, use our gifts, and help make other disciples.

I very seldom watch the news anymore, but I turned it on this morning and was struck by story after story about shootings—one right after another. It can make the world feel like a very dark place.

But maybe that’s exactly why we need to be intentional about bringing some light into it.

So this Monday, be kind. Encourage someone. Pray for someone. Do something good. We may not be able to stop every act of violence, but we can refuse to let violence and darkness have the final word.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” — John 1:5

Let’s bring a little light into our corner of the world today. ❤️

Last week we weathered the storm. We learned that even when it seems like God has forgotten us, He hasn’t. His timing is always perfect. We also learned about faith. Faith is not the absence of fear, but instead, it is keeping our focus on Jesus even in the worst of storms.

This week we continue to learn that God isn’t absent when He is silent. In our Gospel lesson from Matthew, a desperate mother refuses to give up, even when the answer she’s looking for does not come easily. Her encounter with Jesus reminds us that great faith does not mean having all the answers—it means knowing where to go when we don’t.
