Learning Zone, Inc. is excited to announce our Job Extravaganza for JPS students!

We are thrilled to welcome nearly 30 businesses and over 100 students for a day filled with opportunity, growth, and hands-on career exploration, coupled with additional Pre-ETS components.

This event will provide live demonstrations and interactive simulations, giving students a real-world glimpse into what different careers are like. From group Pre-ETS sessions to exploring future career paths to connecting with local businesses, this is an amazing step toward preparing our students for success!

Scott County School District Admin!!! Thank you for allowing Learning Zone, Inc. to work alongside your Teachers as we support your students. Today couldn’t have been any better! Even with the rain, SCSD showed up! We had a blast as we learned and explored various careers and workforce skills. 💫Special THANK YOU to all of the businesses who helped make this event a success!

Our Spring Job Extravaganza for Jackson Public Schools was beyond amazing! Special THANKS to MDRS for partnering with us. Thanks to Jackson State University-Office Of Accessible Education And Resource Center for hosting and your partnership. We had students from JPS High Schools and Middle Schools in attendance. Students attended career simulation stations during the morning and Pre-ETS seminars during the afternoon.

Our (5) focus areas are:
1. Instruction in Self-Advocacy
2. Career Exploration Counseling
3. Workplace Readiness Training
4. Counseling on Post-Secondary Education
5. Work-Based Learning Experiences

Learning Zone’s primary goal is to support a seamless transition to post-school activities and adult life, including connection with adult services and encouraging active community participation.

In partnership with the Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services, Learning Zone, Inc., provided Jackson Public Schools and Jackson State University’s students with a Job Extravaganza featuring businesses and industries in Central Mississippi. The event was a huge success, and we are so thankful for our partnership with each of them.

The ultimate goal of Job Extravaganza is to provide an environment in which students can freely explore a variety of careers at their own pace and hopefully discover career options that best fit their preferences, strengths, and interests.

President Marcus Thompson (JSU), Dr. Arron Richardson (JSU), Ms. Samantha Manning (JSU), Ms. Sheena Creatian (MDRS), Tara Hunt (MDRS), Dr. Talatha Bingham-Gibbs (JPS), and Dr. Maurice Williams (JPS), you are all the best! The aforementioned assisted my team and I every step of the way to make this event a success!

Grant opportunity!!!

AWS is accepting grant applications for the AWS InCommunities Greater Jackson MS Area Fund for community projects in Madison, Hinds, and Rankin Counties!

There are two funding options being offered: 1) You can apply for funding to bring one of their 12 existing ideas to life in your community, or 2) you can apply for funding to start or develop your own community project. The deadline is July 5!
