Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild

Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild Ocmulgee Blacksmith Guild, preserving the past for the future through blacksmithing. Blacksmithing is known as “the master of all crafts”.

A blacksmith is a person who uses heat to create objects from iron or steel. Blacksmithing utilizes hand tools to hammer, bend, cut, and otherwise shape the metal while in its heated form. This process is called “forging” and is used to produce such products as wrought iron gates, grills, railings, light fixtures, furniture, sculptures, tools, cooking utensils, weapons, and items for decorative an

d religious purposes. It is the only craft that can create all of its own tools as well as tools for all other trades. This is why we work to promote the trade of blacksmithing (both traditional and modern). We also encourage the exchange of creative ideas by providing opportunities to be both a teacher and student. The Ocmulgee Blacksmiths Guild is an affiliate of ABANA (the Artist Blacksmiths Association of North America).
