Providing a hub for our community to access the resources it needs has always been One Voice’s dream. Join us on Thurs, Aug. 27, at 5:30 p.m., as our vision becomes reality with the open house of the South Jackson Resilience Hub & Opportunity Center (SJROC or The Roc). OV took what was formerly Marshall Elementary and turned it into a center that will continue to educate and support each other when it’s needed most. Come celebrate and help us share the endless possibilities of collaborative power.

Mississippi's attendance law has changed for the 2026-27 school year, and we want to help you stay informed.

Under the updated law, scholars must be in school for at least 66% of the instructional day to be counted present. Five excused absences are allowed per semester, unless extenuating circumstances are approved by the school.

Beginning with the fourth parent-excused absence, a doctor's note will be required. Schools must also respond sooner when scholars accumulate unexcused absences. In some cases, excessive unexcused absences may impact eligibility for extracurricular activities.

The IDEA Parent Leadership Institute (PLI) of Jackson seeks to inspire parent and community leadership from all who are raising future generations of leaders. The Institute is designed to build key skills in everyday people who have a passion for advocating for all children.
