We had such a wonderful, eventful and resourceful time with our event with University of Mississippi Medical Center, School of Nursing, MSPHI, MSVIP and others on this past weekend. Providing much needed services, hygiene products, food and unity in the community. We like to give all the Honor and Praise to The Most High for such a beautiful time.

Community organizations in south Jackson came together Friday evening to provide support and resources for families facing hard times.

The crew of Operation Good collaborated with Jackson Neighborhood associations and done a much needed and big clean up in South Jackson. Also our Mentors with youth who are at that thin line of being positive and productive or making the wrong decision are being positive influences to the youth and informing the youth from the Mentors own life experiences the consequences of making the wrong decision. Our Director spent time with other organizations in the South discussing CVI Action Plan for the Southern region. They were in the ominous presence of the office with no windows of the great Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Changing the Environment to Change the Mindset, our Navigation Department along with the Westside Community Development Center exposes the high risk to the historic campus of Tougaloo College.

I know that statistically in accordance to CVI data that the CVI organization should focus on the 1% of the total population because they are the statistical perpetrators of violence. That may be true in other cities and states. However in Mississippi that is a hard statistical analysis to conduct. Because in MS, there are more guns than people, the systemic racism that is being constantly conducted here places a higher percentage of the population in a position to be more prone to violence. Given that opportunities and various exposures are limited, the only outlet is being in situations that the majority of the time turns into violence. If you pay attention to the state of conflict resolution, being that everyone and their Moma having a gun a person is very hesitant of taking the chance of resolving a conflict peacefully without a mediator because they know 9 times out of 10 whomever they are in conflict with do have a gun. Considering that a gun in Jackson, MS is a part of your daily packing list to go outside, a person who have a disagreement with someone will be basically placing their faith in their opponent head. I begged the NRA, politicians and all to increase the age of gun ownership and the type of guns that should be available to those of a certain age. All these things were to no avail. A soldier joining the military has to have basic rifle marksmanship before he is allowed to be considered certified to carry a loaded weapon, however on the streets of inner cities, there is no such a regulation. In the military you have to have Advanced Rifle Marksmanship before you can deal with automatic weaponry, on the streets of Jackson, MS a couple dollars and a 3D printer you are a military equipped civilian who don't have any training. How is it that we allow these things on the streets, but not in the U.S. Army, that's crazy. The mindset of a 16-32 year old man is not prepared to be locked and loaded at all times, no way. Without proper training no one on the streets need anything more than a 6 shooter until they are age 32 years old or older, unless prior military service, approprialte training or law enforcement. Having this any other way is society way of saying that they want a group of the population killing one another. Which goes back to systemic racism. In Jackson, MS we had a 1% sales tax for the last 12 years that have accumulated over a 100 million dollars for road and bridges repair, however only the affluent areas of the city has received any repairs. While the impoverished and poverty stricken areas nothing but constant car repair and buying tires. The money for the 1% sales tax is not in the hand of the people of Jackson, MS because its predominantly black but in the hand of the State of MS which is predominantly white and a board that's appointed to manage. Just as with the water crisis of 2022 and the money designated for Jackson, MS for much needed repair, that did not go to the city of Jackson, MS but to the State of MS who did with it as they seen fit, not for the reason it was given and it was given an appointed board or 3rd party manager. The highest imprisonment location in the entire world is in guess where MS, which is the State with the highest percentage of blacks, The state that ironically has the highest rate of STD and HIV. The state with the highest homicide rate, the State with the worst public education, the state with the most guns and the state with the least opportunity. I am mentioning all of this is because there is a lot of good people and organizations out here fighting every day to preserve life, to stand in the gap for the fatherless and the widows, but yet with all those efforts bad things still happens and it hurts those who are trying to Change the Environment. However given the systemic situation that we are in its like being in a fight with both hands ties, eyes covered with shoes with no soles in them. I ofter like to fall back on the fact that Mississippi is considered a Bible Belt state, a Christian State, however the system that are here, who would look at it as being Christ Like. Love Families.

We like to first give all honor and praise to the Most High. With HIM all things are possible, without HIM we are doomed. I often told the team that its hard to see how beautiful the Forest is, because we always are surrounded by all of the thorns, bushes and trees, however if you step outside of the woods and look at it from a distance you can see how beautiful the forest can truly be. Over the Passover Feast Week, I moved around outside of the woods and I got another glimpse of the forest that is our city and its surroundings and I saw our city in a different light, the forest which is the Greater Jackson, MS area indeed has the potential of beauty. Traffic around the city has increased, the eastern parts, our southern most parts, our northern areas as well as the far west areas, traffic, commerce and beauty is there. From Clinton to Flowood, from Canton to Terry, our greater Jackson area is indeed beautiful. It does trouble me though how every other major Metropolitan area in the U.S.A. work together for the sake of commerce, economic development and overall social development but in our metro area its far from that. East coming into city limits of Jackson be beautiful at night but when you get into the city limits it is dark, you come from Clinton, Byram, Richland or Madison leading into the Capital City of this State its lit up, the climax increases as you approach the center only to drive into complete darkness. I truly believe that the environment determines the mindset of a community. If the environment is toxic and dark, toxicity and darkness is going to be attractive to it. I know that our city gets a bad rep all over because of the homicides, the violence, the criminal activity and so forth especially in comparison to the census population of our city. However no one takes into account that we have a huge suburbia area that increases the metro population by double or even more. And the toxicity and darkness of these areas don't act out in their own domain or city or suburbia area, they come where its already dark and toxic at and carry out their bad intentions. In a population of 605,803 people in Metro Jackson according to Censusreporter.org only the impoverished people of inner city Jackson, MS suffers from all the harmful acts that are enacted here because the dark alleys, blacked out neighborhoods, over grown streets and burn down properties makes it advantageous for negative activities. Let's light up and build up our entire Metro, not just the suburbia areas. The potential for an economic explosion is favorable in our area. Let's do what is necessary to encourage investors to invest in our city. Entergy Mississippi y'all rob the impoverished people in the City of Jackson, MS enough to where you all should want to ensure that the lights stay lit in our City. Let Economic Development provide necessary jobs that our area needs. Let private industry come in to provide outlets for our youth, the only thing available for them is gun play . Put the thnigs in front of our youth that provide motivation right now all they have is despair.

Over the last month we have been focused on beautifying our area, changing the environment to change the mindset, working with those that are high risk where we have them involved in job training, GED programs, skill training, getting many employed, taking them to work, celebrating the Passover, fellowship with our families in Birmingham, AL. The nurse don't need to change the oil, the teacher don't need to do the HVAC, the airplane pilot don't need to be driving the tank. Everyone has a job to do and a responsibility to do.

We like to give all praises and all glory to The Most High. “I Am That I Am.” We like to give our Father all of the credit for blessing Operation Good and The City of Jackson in 2025. This is no small feat. Mississippi is an open carry state, Mississippi have the Castle Doctrine, Jackson, MS have gun shows damn near weekly. The pawn shops here have discounted sales on bullets. Our city is flooded with those who are less fortunate and dropped off from neighboring counties, but yet our number of homicides are less than half from when we started. We want to send our condolences to all of those who lost their lives to senseless gun violence and from this trap that our people find ourselves in with the state of today’s environment and the constant degradation and destructive mechanisms that are implemented on our people. For the last 5 years our Father has blessed us to do something for our communities, our city, our state and in many communities around the country that have has life changing, futuristic changes, and community changes effect that will be felt a generation. Via Community Violence Intervention and Prevention, organizations like Operation Good have been able to embed in communities that society has written off, work with those who society has labeled incompetent and have already been assigned a place in the morgue or in some so called correctional facility and have enacted change. We have implemented hope to a people and community that was hopeless. We are taking despair and turning it into optimism. We are building back up the black family community structure that has been systematically and strategically removed. The ROCA program says it takes 3 years to REWIRE a high risk youth. We have successfully went through that process with so many young men, and we can truly say that the 3 year time frame is a fact.

What ails me though is that I am afraid that we as an industry is not going to be around long enough for the wounds and trauma from slavery to interpersonal violence get a chance to heal. We have used CVI to stop the bleeding but just as it happened to us in 2019-2020, the powers that be pushed Operation Good out of the way and that is when the killing grounds started. Since homicides are declining, now every one wants to back up from what it took that got us to the decline and divert into other things that are important, but as with any war, fighting it without boots on the ground is fighting backwards. Its painful looking at these young community members that have been going through it and are now finally finding direction get disappointed once again in their already turmoil life of disappointments because the one surety of consistency they have ever had in their life (CVI programs like Operation Good), is doing what everyone and every thing has done, LEAVE. I have been having nightmares lately thinking of that. I cannot even be happy when I see this one time bad actor, smiling and happy because of how things are now going in their life because the thought lingers on me that how will this happy soul act if I tell him we are about close our doors for good. How will the community react, how will all of the youth, the single mothers in our It Takes a Village program, all the young men and women who we got getting certificates, jobs, and living arrangements react. That troubles me, however I am wise enough to know that all things are in Our Fathers Hands. I just find it demoralizing thinking and telling my people, hey its people out here who really cares about us and the well being and growth of our people, only for these same people to put their finger up to the wind to see which way its blowing and then pivot. However until then we will continue to chop on this tree that The Lord God has placed in front of us. These are some of the things that Operation Good has been doing so far this year. Thanks to Scaling Safety, Alliance for Safety and Justice, Cities United, and PCTIA for coming to our city and sharing your love with us. Also as we continue our mission to Change The Environment to Change The Mindset. As we work on our Resilience Center at Marshall Elementary it gave the community the opportunity to help the community. It was much love of having Survivor Speak last week. Stay Blessed Family

Deuteronomy 15:11

11 For the poor shall never cease out of the land: therefore I command thee, saying, Thou shalt open thine hand wide unto thy brother, to thy poor, and to thy needy, in thy land.

In this time of turmoil, disturbance, and designed systemic chaos while we are here in captivity, our love to feed the people is not limited to those who have made bad decisions or suffering from being less fortunate but to our neighbors. With inflation, no economic opportunities, closing down of grocery stores, and political games with food subsidies it’s going to “Take A Village “ in order to survive. On this day we shared love from the capacity in which we were able to provide fresh vegetables, canned food, dry foods and water to our neighbors. We pray that it provides sufficient nourishment to our neighbors body. Also, over the week that was we like to thank ROCA News for coming by, the brilliant young ladies from the CDC for dropping in, our continuing love for those that are living on the streets . Also big shot out to the Collaboration with the community and the academia and UMMC as we published another poster for presentation at the 2025 National Research Conference. Please understand the alumni of CVILA is going to always be in the house. Love Family
