Rooted in Heritage, Ready for Service, Resolved for the Future: A Baptist Case for Denominational Affiliation and Cooperative Mission

Read the blog post by President Buckley here: https://www.gmbsc.org/post/rooted-in-heritage-ready-for-service-resolved-for-the-future

Excerpt: In recent years, many churches have reevaluated their relationship with denominational affiliation and convention life. Some have reduced their participation. Others have withdrawn entirely. Still others remain nominally affiliated but largely disconnected from the collective work and witness of the denomination. Much of the distancing results from feelings of dissatisfaction with leadership, disappointment with the denomination’s impact or a general disinterest in the priorities set by the governing bodies. This has resulted in an ever decreasing number of churches and pastors in baptist convention life.

These trends raise an important question: What is lost when churches become isolated from the convention and from one another?

This article makes the case for renewed denominational affiliation and cooperative mission among Baptist churches. Rooted in Scripture, Baptist heritage, and the historic witness of the General Missionary Baptist State Convention of Mississippi, it calls churches and pastors to reengage the shared w...

Rally For Voting Rights
May 20 @ 12 Noon

From the organizers: "Faith communities have always been at the center of our struggle for justice. From the pews of Black churches in Mississippi to mosques, synagogues, and sanctuaries of every tradition, the moral arc of our movements has been shaped by people who understood that advocacy is not merely political — it is sacred."

Proverbs 31:8-9 (NIV): “Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”
