DRUM Beats proudly re-endorses State Senator Kristen Gonzalez for her work and leadership in the fight in Albany to tax the rich through the introduction of the Corporate Fair Share act in the senate. Kristen emphasizes housing as a human right and a new vision for housing in New York state. At a time when Trump’s funding cuts on the federal level threaten to take health care away from so many New Yorkers, Kristen’s commitment to fight for a more just healthcare system will make a difference for everyday working people across the state.

We look forward to continuing to strengthen our cogovernance practice with Kristen as she keeps championing working class issues in Albany.

Our members were intrigued by the possibility of progressive positions - taxing the rich, community safety beyond policing, commitment to meeting public needs, standing with families impacted by abusive law enforcement, standing for Palestine - being held by a former police officer.

Through sustained engagement for many months, through tasking out mini-projects, through intense interviews with our members including families impacted by NYPD’s violence, and through our background research, we found Shamsul Haque to be a worthy candidate of our endorsement.

Shamsul’s commitment to accountability, working-class politics, and community-centered public safety has the potential to challenge traditional narratives around safety and strengthen progressive movements in Queens and beyond.

We look forward to Shamsul’s practice of co-governance with our members, and with working-class and progressive movements.

DRUM Beats is honored to announce our endorsement in SD12 for Aber Kawas . She has been on the forefront of grassroots organizing for higher wages, countering police surveillance and immigration reform. After a thorough process our members voted to support Aber’s vision to champion the affordability agenda and her vision to center working class people in the Senate. We are excited about the further agitation and organizing of the Arab community that have a presence in this district and were also activated during Zohran’s campaign.

Steven Raga has a good track record of community and policy work with us. We wish him well, and we look forward to a clean race that reflects the communities and movements both campaigns come from.

We are honored to endorse Latoya LeGrand Latoya LeGrand for Assembly District 32. Latoya brings a powerful combination of lived experience, deep community roots, and a strong commitment to equity and accountability. Our members were particularly impressed by her willingness to talk about what hasn’t worked in the past in the district and to push for practical solutions that make a tangible difference in people’s daily lives. Her focus on education, housing justice, protecting immigrant families, and ensuring the wealthy pay their fair share reflects a deep understanding of the needs of working-class communities.

Reflections from the People’s Majority on a new era and 100 Days of a mayor who answers to people, not profit.

We’re now 100 days into the Mamdani administration. 100 days into a project that took over a year of canvassing, meetings, and calls—and many more years of organizing—to make possible.

After 100 days, it’s clear that we need to keep organizing to deliver the affordability agenda and keep struggling with each other to figure out how we practice cogovernance with City Hall and our working class and immigrant movement that elected Zohran.

Our city is the front line of defense against displacement and deportation. We hold the line against the opposition that wants to undermine our advances and stay united in figuring out how to deliver a working class vision of NYC.
