Brandon from Recreation Support Services and Joe from Big Brothers Big Sisters represented the Youth Bureau at Senator Lea Webb's Annual Community Health Fair held at GIAC yesterday evening. Many thanks to Senator Webb for bringing together the many organizations that support health and wellness in Ithaca and Tompkins County so that members of the community could connect and learn about the many services available to them.

Health Alert: Tompkins County Environmental Health Seeks Information About a Dog Bite in Stewart Park (Ithaca)

The Environmental Health Division must locate a dog that bit a person on Saturday, August 29, 2026, around mid-afternoon, at Stewart Park. The biting dog is described as small and brown. The dog was tied up when it started barking at another smaller dog nearby. The person tried to separate the dogs, which is when the bite took place. The person bit did not see the owner.

Anyone with information regarding this dog is urged to call the Tompkins County Environmental Health Division at (607) 274-6688. Staff are on call to respond to messages received by the answering service, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The community meeting to collect public input on City of Ithaca, New York parks scheduled from 5:00pm-7:00pm tonight at Stewart Park is happening rain or shine. We'll be meeting at the "Large/Picnic" Pavilion instead of the "Small/Tea" Pavilion. All community members, including families and children, are welcome!

A member of our staff lost their keys while mowing in the park over the weekend. The keys are most likely to be found in one of the areas outlined in orange. They are on a rainbow ribbon with a Toyota key fob on one end and a carabiner with 8 or so keys on the other. The staff member is offering a $50 cash reward for their return. Call or text 607-233-0899 if you find them or bring them to the front desk at the Ithaca Youth Bureau. Please share and help us locate them.

Our main building entrance will be temporarily closed starting Tuesday, May 5th while we upgrade to a new accessible, secured entry system. We anticipate this project to be completed by Monday, May 11th.

In the meantime, we ask all participants and visitors to continue parking in our main lot and to follow the sidewalk around to the entrance on the lakeside of the building.
