Attention beekeepers! The US Beekeeping Survey is now live!

Participate as a beekeeping citizen scientist through April 30th at https://aub.ie/us-beekeeping-survey Your efforts provide insights in this past year's colony losses, plus help drive research direction, Extension efforts, and policy decisions!

Please also share this post widely among your beekeeping social media circles!

The Apiary Inspectors of America first contributed to a national survey of honey bee colony losses in 2007, during a time of uncertainty due to Colony Collapse Disorder. Since then, a version of the Survey has been organized by the Bee Informed Partnership, in collaboration with the University of Ma...

Happy First Day of Spring! We have an exciting event coming up soon.

Every year Cornell Master Beekeeper students research and present on beekeeping topics that interest them as part of completing their certification as a Master Beekeeper. We've decided to highlight some of those presentations and share them with the public.

Join us for three fascinating presentations given by graduates of the Cornell MBK program, covering the following topics: Medicinal Properties of Honey, How bees use sound/vibration to communicate, and Skep Hive Beekeeping in Great Britain.

Hello New York Beekeepers! Auburn University is asking for beekeepers across the US to help with their citizen science Winter Capped Brood Monitoring Project.

The US Winter Capped Brood Monitoring Project is underway for its fourth season. Every two weeks from October to February, Auburn University, along with other universities and USDA labs from across the country, inspects colonies for capped brood. This effort helps inform the best times for winter oxalic acid mite treatments and which areas will be most at risk for another parasitic mite, Tropilaelaps, if it is introduced to the US.

This winter, they are asking beekeepers across the US to help with monitoring by inspecting up to three colonies during three windows: December 19th - 21st, January 2nd – January 4th, and/or January 16th - 18th. Inspections will be quick and report a simple Yes or No if capped brood is present.

Their website, https://aub.ie/broodcsi, has more information, monitoring instructions, and a link to submit observations.

We thank you in advance for your consideration and participation!
