Ithaca ReUse Center has air conditioners available in spring. That’s the best time to buy air conditioners because nobody else is panicking about heat yet. Come summer, air conditioners become precious commodities. Right now they’re just appliances sitting on shelves waiting for someone smart enough to plan ahead.

Starting today, Ithaca ReUse Center and ReUse MegaCenter will be open for shopping until 8 PM every day! An 8 PM closing time means the stores are open for 70 hours a week. That is almost half of the total hours available in a week. The other half of the hours are reserved for sleep and for the objects in the store to discuss their previous owners in private.

Effective Friday, May 1st, ReUse's operating hours at its current locations—the Ithaca ReUse Center and the ReUse MegaCenter —will change.

Shopping hours will be expanded to include 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. daily at both locations for the first time, with donation hours temporarily reduced from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday through Monday ONLY. Donations acceptance will be temporarily CLOSED on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at both locations.

This change, effective Friday, 5/01/2026, will offer more convenient shopping hours and provide ReUse with the opportunity to distribute an increasing backlog of materials generated by this community's generosity.

Every day is Earth Day at Finger Lakes ReUse, but April 21st through 23rd means 30% off to prove it.

From Tuesday, April 21st to Thursday, April 23rd, all household items, building materials, electronics, clothing, shoes, accessories, movies and music are 30% off and desktop computers are 25% off* at both Ithaca ReUse Center (214 Elmira Road) and ReUse MegaCenter (2255 N. Triphammer Road). Reusing existing stuff is easier on the planet than making new stuff. Plus, it costs 30% less this weekend, which makes it easier on wallets too. Environmental responsibility and financial responsibility in the same transaction. That's efficiency.

There are quality bikes at Ithaca ReUse Center that need restoration. These aren’t department store bikes. These are bikes that were expensive once and could be expensive again with effort. Someone gets to provide that effort. The bike waits patiently for someone with tools and ambition.

There are pastel-colored decorations at Ithaca ReUse Center. Pink, yellow, light blue, lavender. Easter owns these colors for exactly one month per year. The rest of the year they’re just regular colors. But in March and April, they’re officially Easter colors.

Bookshelves came into Ithaca ReUse Center last week. Tall, wooden, empty. Someone can buy them and fill them with books to look intellectual, or leave them mostly empty to look minimalist, or fill them with random objects to look eclectic. The shelves enable all aesthetic choices equally. That’s inclusive furniture design.
