Sharing is caring! Iris and her mate, NG2, take turns enjoying a fish on the Hellgate Osprey Cam. First, NG2 delivers a fish to Iris, who takes an incubation break and flies off to eat. She then returns a little while later and hands off her leftovers to NG2, ensuring everyone gets a bite. Catch the next fish delivery at AllAboutBirds.org/Ospreys

A big meal for the littlest Red-tailed Hawk nestling. Watch P3 fill up during a feeding from Big Red on May 27. The youngest chick packs its crop full of squirrel until it is visibly bulging. A bird’s crop is a pocket of the esophagus that many birds use to temporarily store food before digestion. This hefty meal should keep the young hawk satisfied for a while. The Northern Royal Albatross chick got his weekly weigh-in with Department of Conservation (DOC) Rangers at Pukekura/Taiaroa Head and is now a whopping ~21 pounds (8.6 kg)! These weigh-ins help track the development of the chick and ensure that it remains at a healthy weight. Rangers are experienced at handling albatross and are trained to move carefully around the birds to minimize any negative reactions. Follow along at AllAboutBirds.org/Albatross

Lunch is served at the American Kestrel nest in Wisconsin! Watch the female zip into the nest box with a small bird to feed her nestlings, who are now between 12 and 15 days old as of May 27.

The older, larger siblings receive the first bites, but once they are full, the younger siblings surge to the front for the rest. Stay until the end to see one of the smaller siblings swallow down a whole leg! Tune in LIVE at AllAboutBirds.org/Kestrels

Persistence pays off at the Lance-tailed Manakin display perch! After yet another cooperative courtship display, alpha male PGVm successfully mates with a female Lance-tailed Manakin. Watch one of the two successful matings in this clip, and tune in to catch them LIVE at AllAboutBirds.org/Manakins.

After mating, she was also seen preening and picking at some local vegetation, which according to our field expert, Dr. Emily DuVal, means she is continuing to hunt for nest material.

🍊 Spring migrants are LIVE at the Cornell Lab FeederWatch Cam. Watch at AllAboutBirds.org/CornellFeeders

Here, a male and a female Baltimore Oriole arrive to sip on some of the fresh oranges put out on the tray feeder. Watch them nibble on the flesh of the fruit and use their slender beaks to stab into the oranges to extract juice.

Adult males are flame-orange and black, with a solid-black head and one white bar on their black wings. Females and immature males are yellow-orange on the breast, grayish on the head and back, with two bold white wing bars.

Iris is not thrilled with a European Starling fledgling’s sudden appearance in the nest. Listen to her call repeatedly, which brings NG2 in to investigate. Neither Osprey seems quite sure how to react as the fledgling toddles around the nest. Eventually, the young starling leaves the area, and Iris was able to settle back down over her eggs. Watch LIVE at AllAboutBirds.org/Ospreys

How did the fledgling end up in the Hellgate Osprey nest? This young bird appears to have fledged from a nest tucked within the Ospreys’ massive web of sticks and is now beginning to explore its surroundings. Osprey nests are often used by smaller birds as nesting sites, and in recent years we’ve seen House Sparrows, Eastern Kingbirds, and European Starlings raise young within the Hellgate nest structure.
