We discovered the powerful wellness benefits of this tea through our Food As Medicine program where we work with highly vulnerable populations to promote health and healing through plants.

We hope this tea—and other Food As Medicine recipes to follow—will also bring you relief and restoration.

SERENITY HERBAL TEA
A Simple Tisane to Help Melt Away Tension

INGREDIENTS
* 1 Tablespoon each of Hibiscus, Lemon Balm, Tulsi, Passionflower & Chamomile
* Lemon wedge for enriched detox & uplifting energy, or an orange slice & cinnamon stick for an herbal hug

INSTRUCTIONS
Steep everything in 32 ounces of hot water for at least 10 minutes. Strain (squeeze out herbs to get maximum goodness). Savor each sip, taking a moment to breathe deeply in-between.

We have much to celebrate from 2025 -- and much to build upon for 2026! We'd love your support investing in our community and our collective food future.

In 2025:

We said goodbye to our original 1/2 price CSA share model and are now offering all low-income members a share on a free & need-based sliding scale to bring produce within reach.

We expanded home delivery, the only way for farm-fresh produce to reach community members who need it most.

We expanded our Farm-to-Pantry CSA, so people relying on emergency food assistance have access to quality, locally grown fresh food rather than the last of the harvest and leftovers.

We expanded Food as Medicine services to help people turn their health around.

And we double downed on investing in our youth with a 10-week Master Farm-to-Fork Cooking Class to nourish our next generation of food justice leaders.

Grateful for YOU — A Gift from HFFA
As we enter the season of giving—in appreciation of our loving community and your tremendous support over the years—we’re sharing one of our favorite Fall recipes: Roasted Winter Squash with Sage Brown Butter & Leeks, adapted from Chefs Christina & Jonah McKeogh (two of HFFA's first harvest dinner extraordinaries). The flavor of combining winter squash, leeks, sage and cinnamon will make your palate sing, and it has some of our most cherished local ingredients, including mushrooms from Wellspring Forest Farm & School, chèvre from Lively Run Dairy. Enjoy it with artisan bread from Wide Awake Bakery and a beautiful glass of wine from Red Newt Cellars.

You can see the ***full recipe*** and details on how to get a complimentary copy of HFFA’s special edition 20th anniversary cookbook at www.healthyfoodforall.org/events

It is a rough time we are in. The past weeks have been a rollercoaster of emotions as the federal government cut SNAP benefits effective Nov 1st, causing widespread panic and chaos. This left approximately 7,200 residents of Tompkins County without essential support that they rely on to put food on their table.

HFFA has received hundreds of pleas for help from our community.

For two decades, HFFA’s farmers have been frontline responders to surges in food insecurity. At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, HFFA distributed over 200,000 lbs of fresh produce and provided free home delivery to neighbors in need.

Unfortunately, because HFFA doesn’t operate as a conventional food pantry, and we aren’t members of the Food Bank because we buy everything direct from local farms, we don’t qualify for the state or county emergency funding being disbursed to pantries and Food Banks to cover the missing SNAP benefits.

With your support, HFFA’s robust network of local farms can ensure our pantry partners have a reliable abundance and wide diversity of nutritious produce to help meet community need.
