⭐️ In 2023, our founder and executive director Dr. Talia Bailes traveled to Orocué, Columbia where she conducted research on the positive effects of dance within their youth community. This work was just published in the International Journal of Adolescence and Youth!

“Free Joropo style dance classes occurred four days weekly throughout the year led by a local professional dancer. Seven focus groups were conducted with children”

“Findings suggest existing youth dance groups may be an innovative tool to improve vulnerable children’s health and well-being.”

Her work contributes to a growing body of evidence demonstrating that dance can support physical health, cognitive development, and social-emotional well-being in children. Her research also helps strengthen the evidence behind the work we do and informs future programming decisions.
