Cornell Thrift

Cornell Thrift Cornell Thrift is a student-organization dedicated to promoting sustainable fashion and clothing reuse through our exchange closets and community events.

Cornell Thrift’s mission is to reduce campus-wide waste and improve student welfare through the redistribution of reusable personal items. The initiative was inspired by the concept of “free-piles” seen in university co-operative housing, along with the annual Dump n Run sale. We actualize our mission by implementing closets around campus (dubbed “Ezra’s Exchange”) that are “free to give, free to

take” spaces. Anyone can donate clothes to Ezra’s Exchange, and take out clothes for free, at any time. We currently have two closets, located in the browsing library of Willard Straight Hall (aka the sofa room) and basement of Cascadilla Residence Hall. As part of our mission towards reuse, we host periodic mending workshops to teach the Cornell community how to fix or embellish clothing rather than throw it away. We also organize documentary screenings, upcycling workshops and other fun activities to engage and educate the community. In Spring 2017, Cornell Thrift founded , a photo campaign to get people thinking about the value of clothes by sharing the stories they hold. The goal is to reduce waste by having people rethink the way they see their clothes. We hold an open photo shoot every other Friday from 12 - 2pm at Temple of Zeus. With fall break coming to a close we encourage everyone to check out our Ezra Exchange Closets ♻️ located on West Campus! These closets were an initiative started in 2017 to give students a place where they can give and take clothing 👕as they please.

If you ever need clothes or are in a thrifting mood our closets are a great place to go to find some hidden gems! On the flip side, if you ever have any clothing you don’t want anymore consider donating them to our closets to help give the clothing a new home!

Share with friends and have fun thrifting! 🤩
