Trying to figure out when to visit the Lab this summer? While Sapsucker Woods and the Visitor Center are always great for self-guided visits, this week also features many programs centered around birds and biodiversity!

There will be no Sapsucker Sits stationary birding event tomorrow (7/21) but you can still stop by the Visitor Center between 10 AM - 4 PM to sign out binoculars for free and create your own birding adventure!

Family Story Time returns for two dates in June before we transition to a monthly format beginning in July. Join us in the Visitor Center tomorrow, June 12 at 11:00 a.m. for preschool age-appropriate songs, stories and activities inspired by the natural world!

This week's Mindful Birding event will feature a taste of Forest Therapy. Birds are one of the species of other-than-human beings from whom we can find delight, learn from, and relate to. Our primary location will be on chairs placed out near the pond where we will have a short introduction, then be guided through awakening our senses and a series of “invitations”. After each invitation, there will be an opportunity to share what you are noticing. We will spend 10-15 minutes at the pond location, followed by a 10 minute simple, slow “wander” along the trail. After a sharing time again at the chairs near the pond, we will be guided on 2-3 additional invitations at or near there, before a final completing invite and share.
Join us at the Visitor Center Wednesday, June 10 from 12:00 - 1:00 PM. This event is FREE and requires no registration. 🌲🌳

Family Story Time tomorrow, June 5 is CANCELLED. The great news is Family Story Time at the Lab of Ornithology returns Friday June 12. We are looking forward to seeing familiar faces and new attendees! 🐦

The Visitor Center will be CLOSED for a special event this Thursday and Friday (5/28 & 5/29) as well as Saturday morning (5/30). The Visitor Center will reopen at 12 noon on Saturday, May 30. Our trails will remain open from dawn to dusk.
