Sorry this didn't get posted in time, but there is some good info here: ITHACA FISHING AND CONSERVATION DAY IS THIS SATURDAY.March 26, 2016 - Ithaca Fishing and Conservation Day, the Leon Chandler Chapter of Trout Unlimited invites the public to join us at Boynton Middle School in Ithaca, between 9:00 am - 4:00 pm. To learn about the sport of fly fishing, the art of fly tying and a bit about the environment in the Finger Lakes region. There will be fly fishing casting lessons offered continuously from 10am-2pm. We will have lessons on fly tying throughout the day. Local fly tyers will demonstrate how to tie their signature patterns on "Tyer's Row" in two sessions, at 10 am – 12pm and 1pm-3pm. There will be several educational displays regarding our unique environment here in the Finger Lakes including stream insects and more. Confirmed exhibitors include: Community Science Institute, Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom, Trout in the Classroom, Cayuga Lake Watershed Network and the Twin Tiers Five Rivers Chapter of the FFF. We also hope to be joined by the Cayuga Nature Center and the Izaak Walton League of America - Cortland Chapter.. We will also be joined by several vendors carrying both conventional and fly fishing tackle including: Badger Creek Fly Fishing, D&D Bait and Tackle, JW Trout, Mad River Fly Fishing and Marco Vintage Tackle. We also hope to have representatives from Diamondback Rods on-hand to demonstrate their new lines of fly (and maybe conventional) rods. This is the major fundraising event for the Leon Chandler Chapter. This program keeps the core of our youth related efforts funded including our Trout in the Classroom program that is located in schools throughout Ithaca and Tompkins County.
