Pensacola Alphas Aims: Manly Deeds, Scholarship, and Love for all Mankind

Motto: First of All, Servants of All, We Shall Transcend All

Alpha Phi Alpha, the first intercollegiate Greek-letter fraternity established for African American Men, was founded on December 4, 1906 at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York by seven college men who recognized the need for a strong bond of brotherhood among African descendants in this country. The visionary founders, known as the “Jewels” of the fraternity, are Henry Arthur Callis, Charles He

nry Chapman, Eugene Kinckle Jones, George Biddle Kelley, Nathaniel Allison Murray, Robert Harold Ogle, and Vertner Woodson Tandy. The fraternity initially served as a study and support group for minority students who faced racial prejudice, both educationally and socially, at Cornell. The Jewel founders and early leaders of the fraternity succeeded in laying a firm foundation for Alpha Phi Alpha's principles of scholarship, fellowship, good character, and the uplifting of humanity. The Epsilon Mu Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha, located in the city of Pensacola, Florida, was chartered on January 1, 1951. Through various national and local community programs, the chapter holds true to the fraternities aims of manly deeds, scholarship and love for all mankind.

Congratulations to Brother Clarence Dominique Jordan, assistant coach of the Booker T. Washington Lady Wildcats 5A State Championship team!

With an outstanding 28–3 record and an incredible 19-game win streak, these young ladies pushed through adversity and proved themselves as the best in the state!

They continue to represent beyond the court with character, class, and distinction as they recently earned recognition from both the city and county through official proclamations honoring their achievements.

We salute Brother Jordan for his exemplary leadership and his commitment to pouring into the next generation of young leaders.

Congratulations to Brother Brian Coleman on this well-earned recognition of his outstanding service, dedication, professionalism, and leadership.

There goes an Alpha man!

CONGRATULATIONS to Brian Coleman, who has been named our Team Member of the Quarter!

Brian serves as a child welfare case manager on our young adult services team. Brian has gone above and beyond by helping young adults aging out of foster care personalize and furnish their homes, even going to estate sales, yard sales and furniture stores, while advocating for donations to assist youth in care. Outside of work, Brian continues to serve his community as a youth sports coach, mentor and active fraternity board member.

Brandon Fernbach, who nominated Brian, wrote:

“Brian treats all of his people served with class, professionalism and respect. Brian is always willing to lend a helping hand to his own unit and can often by found volunteering or offering assistance to other units around his workspace. He has taken on the role of leader as well as morale booster. He lives by our values, takes care of those around him and uplifts people. He never settles for ‘simply good enough.’ He strives to achieve excellence and help others to achieve goals that they may have never even seen as possible.”

Congratulations, Brian!
