In kitchens, classrooms, celebrations and meetings.
In places where strangers became neighbors, where families make a home, and where community begins to recognize itself.
This August 15, at the Latino Civic Association Picnic, we begin sharing Donde Nos Encontramos, a project dedicated to preserving the stories of Latino life in Ithaca and Tompkins County.
We’ve begun recording the voices of those who were here before us and those who helped build the community we know today. But this history belongs to more than a few people.
It belongs to all of us.
If you remember the people, the gatherings, the struggles, the celebrations, the first days here or just the everyday moments that made this place feel like home, we want to hear from you.
Bring us your memories. Bring us your photographs. Tell us about the people we should meet.
Come find us at the Latino Civic Association picnic on August 15 and help us preserve the story of where we found one another.
