Community Quilting Center Purpose: To open the door to quiltmaking for all, regardless of personal resources.

Imagine a place and space designed especially to bring together those interested in creating quilts, with special focus on opening the door to those new to quiltmaking–connecting beginners with everything they need to learn, grow, create, connect, and succeed in their first quiltmaking endeavors. Imagine access to space and sewing machines, great tools, fabrics, a supportive atmosphere, patterns, and books, and most of all, connection to people with care and expertise who are excited to teach, learn, and share. Imagine a place and space especially for quiltmakers–individuals and groups– that will serve as a catalyst and connector for existing and new quiltmaking and sewing projects for community good.

It was a joy to be at Trumasnsburg Central School with quilting friends from the Community Quiltmaking Center to gift a Wrap Up and Read Quilt and 2 beautiful books to every pre-k child! The quilts were made with love and care by quiltmakers from across Tompkins County, and the books were a gift from Children's Reading Connection and the Gemm Shop. Imagine that Trumansburg Pre-K was just one of 8 rural schools whose pre-k children received the gift of a Wrap Up and Read Quilt and books last week! That's 200 of our community's young children all across Tompkins County, who on this rainy holiday can snuggle up and read with family and loved ones! ❤
