One honest note: the verse just before, 15:23, falls in a gap, so "the waters of Marah" there comes from the received text.

NOAA is forecasting minor geomagnetic storming (G1 on its scale) over the next day or two, with the activity index (Kp) climbing into the 4-to-5 range, strongest later today and tonight Mountain time, as a fast stream of solar wind flows out of a coronal hole on the Sun. NOAA also gives a 25% chance of a minor to moderate radio blackout from an M-class flare, and any aurora will favor the northern states, so Colorado is a long shot.

Why it matters: Yahuah set the lights "for signs, and for seasons" (Beresh*th 1:14).

At G1 the effects are mild, mostly weak power-grid fluctuations and minor satellite effects, but that is exactly why it gets tracked.

We watch because He keeps the order, and because knowing what the sky is doing helps us protect what He has provided.

Three days into the wilderness, Israel found water at Marah and couldn't drink it. So the people asked the obvious question: "What shall we drink?" (Shemot 15:24). Moshe cried out, and "Yahuah shewed him a tree" (Shemot 15:25). Cast into the water, it did what the people couldn't do for themselves: "the waters were made sweet."

Notice what didn't happen.

The water wasn't swapped for a different spring. Yahuah took the same bitter water and changed it. And then came the promise attached to the miracle: "I am Yahuah that healeth thee" (Shemot 15:26). The very next stop on the map was Elim, with twelve springs and seventy palm trees. The bitter place and the plenty were a short walk apart.

If something in your life tastes bitter this week, don't assume you've taken a wrong turn. Marah was on the route. Ask Him what He's about to drop into it.

Yahusha said "whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst" (Yoḥanan 4:14). Start your Monday there.

📜 PALEO-HEBREW WORD OF THE DAY: אמונה (emunah) 𐤀𐤌𐤅𐤍𐤄

Emunah means steadiness before it means belief: something that holds when weight is put on it. Its root, א-מ-ן, is physical at the base: to support, to be firm. The same root names the nurse who carries a child (Num 11:12) and gives us amen, "firm, so be it."

📖 THE NARRATIVE: MOSES' HANDS AT REPHIDIM (Exod 17:8–16)

Amalek attacks Israel at Rephidim. Joshua leads the fighting while Moses, Aaron, and Hur climb the hill, with the staff of Elohim in Moses' hand. While Moses keeps his hand raised, Israel prevails. When it drops, Amalek does.
By midday his hands are heavy. They set a stone under him, and Aaron and Hur hold his arms up, one on each side. Then the text uses our word, the noun's first appearance in Scripture: vayehi yadav emunah, "his hands were steady," until sunset (Exod 17:12).

Joshua wins. Yahuah tells Moses to write the account in the book, and Moses names the altar YHUH-nissi, "YHUH is my banner" (Exod 17:13–15).

Emunah, then, is a posture held until the day ends, and this one took three people to hold. The month closing today opened with the same picture: on Day 1 of the seventh month the people answered Ezra's blessing with "Amen, Amen," lifting their hands (Neh 8:2, 6).

🏺 DEAD SEA SCROLLS SPOTLIGHT:
PESHER HABAKKUK

(1QpHab), COLUMNS VII–VIII

It is one of the first seven scrolls found in Cave 1 in 1947, and it was published in 1951. Thirteen columns of Herodian script run about 141 cm, and the scroll is dated to the later first century BCE.

In column VII, the commentary on Hab 2:3b praises faithful Torah-keepers who will not let their hands go limp in serving truth while the end is delayed (VII.10–12). Next comes the quoted line Hab 2:4b, the righteous live by emunah. Column VIII.1–3 applies it to all who keep the Torah in the House of Judah: they will be rescued from judgment because of their hardship and their loyalty to the Teacher of Righteousness.

The pesher never cites Exodus 17, and slack hands are a stock biblical idiom for lost resolve. Still, the scroll puts steady hands and emunah within a few lines of each other. Where the quoted verses reach the divine name, the scribe writes it in paleo-Hebrew letters inside the square-script text.

🎬 CULTURE: DANIEL AND THE FIERY FURNACE IS WINDING DOWN

The Bible epic built on Daniel 3 has earned about $8.24 million in U.S. theaters through Oct. 16 and is down to 162 theaters. EKKL Entertainment opened it Sept. 18 in 1,525 theaters. Mena Massoud plays Daniel.

The furnace chapter is Aramaic and never uses emunah.

Daniel's three friends say their Aluah can rescue them, and that they will not worship the image even if he does not (Dan 3:17–18). That is steadiness that does not depend on the outcome. The same root does appear elsewhere in Daniel's Aramaic: he is called trustworthy (Dan 6:4), and he leaves the lions' den unharmed because he trusted in his Aluah (Dan 6:23).

"with the spirit of Elohiym" for the work (31:3) and gave him a partner so he wouldn't build alone (31:6).

Bezalel's name means "in the shadow of El." The man who built the house worked in Yahuah's shadow. 🔥

In the anointing oil verse, "holy" is the only word left standing on the scroll (Shemot 30:31). It turns up again in the incense passage as "most holy" (30:36), and the verb "sanctify" survives at 30:30. One honest note: the rest of the oil verse falls in a gap, so we read it from the received text.

Yesterday you got oil. Today you find out what it was for.
Nobody anointed the basin because it needed polish. Shemot 30:26–28 lists what got the oil: the tent, the ark, the table, the lampstand, both altars, and the basin. Every one of them had a job. That's what holy means. It doesn't mean spotless. It means set apart for something.

There's a difference between being set aside and being set apart. Set aside is a shelf. Set apart is a purpose. If this year has you feeling shelved, hear this: you were picked up on purpose.

Before Yahusha walked out to the garden we talked about yesterday, He prayed for His own. Right in the middle of it: "for their sakes I sanctify myself" (Yoḥanan 17:19).

Sanctify is today's word at work. He set Himself apart on purpose, and a few lines later His prayer reaches everyone who would believe after them (Yoḥanan 17:20).

That's us. Then He walked into the press.

So when the week gets heavy, remember you're not on a shelf. The One who set you apart knows exactly where you're standing this morning.

Two honest notes. The word "beaten" just before it falls in a gap, and at Shemot 30:31 only "holy" is left of the holy anointing oil verse, so that verse reaches us from the received text.

Why today: Yesterday the priest washed at the basin. Today he gets oil. The order is right there in Shemot 29: "shalt wash them with water" (Shemot 29:4), then "take the anointing oil, and pour it upon his head" (Shemot 29:7). And the oil was never saved for ordination day. Every morning a lamb went up in the court with flour mixed with oil and w**e poured out beside it (Shemot 29:39–40). The feast is over, and the oil keeps coming.

🙌 CLOSING WORD

Yesterday you got washed. Today you get oil Ravens!

Nobody earned the oil by being clean enough! The priests were washed, and then somebody else poured it over their heads. From above!

Now, about oil. It only comes out of an olive that's been pressed. The text says it plainly: "beaten oil" (Shemot 29:40). Some of you are carrying real weight this week. A call that never came. A door that stayed shut. A prayer you've prayed so long it's worn smooth. It's pressure, and I won't pretend it's anything else. But it isn't wasted.

The night they came for Yahusha, He crossed the Kidron into a garden (Yoḥanan 18:1).

That place is called Gethsemane, and the name means "oil press." He knows that spot from the inside. And Mashiach, the title we give Him, means the Anointed One. The pressed One and the anointed One are the same Person.

I can't tell you what your press is for Ravens. I can tell you who's been in it before you.

Tuesday is Shabat, and the psalm written for that day has this line: "I shall be anointed with fresh oil" (Tehillim 92:10). Read it out loud at first light.(dawn)

Why today: All week we have walked through the tent: ohel, menorah, mizbeach, aron, shulchan. The laver stood out in the court, "between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar" (Shemot 30:18). It was the last stop before a priest went in to serve. The bronze for it came from the mirrors of the serving women (Shemot 38:8). They gave up looking at themselves so the priests could be made clean.

🙌 CLOSING WORD

The rule at the laver was simple: "So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not" (Shemot 30:21). Nobody walked into Yahuah's house unwashed.
Then came the night Yahusha rose from supper, girded Himself with a towel, and "poureth water into a bason" (Yoḥanan 13:5).

The Master became the laver. When Kepha (Peter) refused, Yahusha answered, "If I wash thee not, thou hast no part with me" (Yoḥanan 13:8).
Kepha's reply could be read straight off our word: "not my feet only, but also my hands and my head" (Yoḥanan 13:9). Kaph and Yod are the hands. Resh is the head. The Vav fastens them together. Yahusha's answer was gentler than Kepha's request. The one already washed only needs his feet rinsed from the road (Yoḥanan 13:10).

So walk into this week clean. Whatever you picked up on the road since last Shabat, bring your feet to the basin. He already filled it Ravens!💧

🌿 FEAST DAYS: THE FIRST APPOINTED TIME

No feast today. But when Yahuah set out His appointed times, the first one on the list was not Pesach or Sukut. It was the seventh day: "the seventh day is the Shabat of rest, an holy convocation" (Vayikra 23:3).

✅ Why the seasons line up. A 364-day year is exactly 52 weeks. Each season is 91 days, which is 13 whole weeks, so all four Taqupah High Shabatim open on the same day of the week, Yum 4 this year. The weekly Shabat is always Yum 7.

✅ Next on the count. The Taqupah High Shabat, Saturday, Dec 19 (Chadash 10, Day 1), 68 days from today. Until then, the weekly Shabat is the appointed time.

"table"

The Scroll: 4QpaleoExod-m (4Q22) again, Exodus copied in the old Hebrew letters in Cave 4 between 100 and 25 BCE. The word is preserved at Shemot 37:10, "he made the table," and again at 37:14, where the rings hold the poles "to bear the table." One honest note: at Shemot 25:23, where the table is first commanded, the scroll has a gap, so we anchor the word in chapter 37.

The picture: teeth, a staff, a wall, a seed. Eating, led by the Shepherd's staff, inside the shelter, so that life carries on. That is a table in Yahuah's house: a place to be fed and led, where what is given keeps going from one generation to the next.

Why today: This week you have walked through the tent. Friday's word, menorah, was the lampstand on the south side of the Holy Place. The table stood across from it on the north (Shemot 26:35). Light on one side, bread on the other.

🙌 CLOSING WORD

The table had one job: to hold bread "before me alway" (Shemot 25:30). Twelve loaves in two rows of six, "upon the pure table before Yahuah" (Vayikra 24:6), and "Every Shabat he shall set it in order before Yahuah continually" (Vayikra 24:8).

Now read the Hebrew. The bread is lechem panim, bread of the face, set lefanai, before my face, tamid, continually. Face. Bread. Always. That is He Sees, He Provides, He Sustains, laid out on a table in a tent. And when the loaves came off, they fed the priests: "they shall eat it in the holy place" (Vayikra 24:9). 🔥

David knew where such tables show up: "Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies" (Tehillim 23:5).

On a Galilee shore, after a night of empty nets, Yahusha already had a fire of coals going, with fish and bread on it. His invitation was three words:

"Come and dine" (Yoḥanan 21:12)!!!!

Shabat opens at dawn tomorrow. Sit down at the table He already set. 🍞
