Meet The Garage, a Teen Cafe(๐Ÿ“United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ)

The Garage is a nonprofit, teen designed drop-in space exclusively for high school students, offering a vital third space beyond home and school where young people feel safe, affirmed, and connected.

Every afternoon, teens gather to build community through peer connection, creative expression, and teen-led programming. Everything is completely free, including food, clothing, art supplies, and health essentials. Embedded within this welcoming space is free, including on-site counseling and case management, making mental health support accessible without stigma or barriers.

In a moment shaped by rising youth mental health needs and reduced access to affordable care, the Garage provides a stable, affirming environment where teens can access support in ways that feel natural and trusted. Nearly 700 teens rely on this space, many of whom identify as LGBTQIA2S+, BIPOC, or neurodivergent.

โ€œThe Garage has helped me understand my identity, build lasting connections, and feel fully accepted. It truly felt like a home away from home.โ€

With support from the Kindness in Community Fund, the Garage is strengthening its community care model, deepening access to free mental health support and ensuring teens continue to have a space where belonging and well-being go hand in hand.
