I, John Felder of Islip Terrace, am running for the position of Islip Terrace Fire Commissioner on December 8, 2015. Voting is taking place at the Islip Terrace Fire headquarters at 264 Beaverdam Rd. Islip Terrace between the hours of 3PM-9PM. I am a lifetime resident of Islip Terrace. I am a 35 year employee for our lighting company and a Shop Steward for over 30 years. I am also the founder and
president of the Paul Synder Memorial Foundation. Through my foundation we give 2 graduating seniors at EIHS a $1,000.00 scholarship based on volunteerism in the community for the past 13 years. My wife and I have three grown children and my wife is the owner/director of Discovery Corner Child Care in Islip Terrace. I am asking the residents of Islip Terrace Fire District to support me in my bid to become fire commissioner. I am running on HONESTY, INTEGRITY and EXPERIENCE in negotiating all issues between management and union members. I hope to develop a spirit of unity in the Islip Terrace Fire Department as well as in our community. I will ensure that the residents of the Islip Terrace Fire District will receive adequate fire protection and will RESTORE EMERGENCY AMBULANCE SERVICE THROUGH THE 911 CALL SYSTEM. Not only will I be free of the internal politics of the fire department when making decisions, I will always be open-minded and fair with all community members and fire department members.
