As I sit at my computer and type the President’s message, I’m happy to report that our sellout crowd had a great time at our crab feed dinner and fundraiser that was held on Friday, February 13th. The salad, garlic bread, pasta including the plain and marinated crab was outstanding. Our sponsored “Delta Saints Bass Team” did an outstanding job serving all of our guests the entire evening. They have been invited to our March 11TH dinner and meeting, where we will present them with a donation check to sponsor them for another year. I would also like to thank the following regular and commercial members for their donations that made our fundraiser a true success. They are, in no particular order, Kyle Wise of HeadHunter Sportfishing, Ron Koyasako of Nautilus Excursions, Don Franklin of Sole-Man Sportfishing, Craig Hanson of Argo Sportfishing, Don Paganelli of Paganelli’s Bass Fishing Experience, Mike Funtanilla of Bend Ur Rod Sportfishing, Dennis Grossi of Grossi’s Guide Service, The Boat Guys in Lodi, Piranha Propellers, The San Francisco Giants, Outdoor Sportsman of Stockton, Gone Fishin’ Marine in Dixon, Lainey’s Furniture For Living in Vacaville, Lisa Finato, Denise Paganelli, Heather Gray, Bob Cummesky, Acme Tops and Tunes in Sacramento, Buck’s Outboard Repair in Sacramento, Freeport Market/Reggie’s Tackle Shack in Sacramento, Addicted Fishing, Marina Bait and Tackle in Suisun City, Bait and Booze Tackle Shop in Galt, Ghost Bait and Tackle in Sacramento, Ron and Charlotte Retzlaff, Fred Nakagawa, Bodega Tackle in Petaluma, Christina Arvizu, Get Out and Fish, Golden State Salmon Association, Kevin Brock of FishKevinBrock, NorCal Guides and Sportsmen’s Association, Peter’s Steakhouse in Isleton, Pineapple Restaurant in Isleton, Reel Custom Boat Works in Lodi, Rio Vista Ace Hardware, Studio Abachar, Sweeney’s Sports in Napa, Susie Weller, Rio Vista Chamber of Commerce, Stacia Olson of Waldie and Associates, Durasnare, and Ski and Felicitas Sinosky. Without all their generous donations, our fundraisers’ success would not have been possible. Thank you!!
I would be remiss if I didn’t thank those who volunteered to make this evening successful. They are Darren Butler, Diana Canevaro, Mike Casdia, Kevin Eck, Diana and Mike Phillips, Mike Pine, and obviously my wife Kathy. Last, but not least, thanks to Chef Arvell and his kitchen crew. All their tireless efforts are greatly appreciated!!
Our next event will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 as we will be hosting the “5th Annual Barry Canevaro Memorial Striper Derby” out of the Rio Vista Boat Launch. As in past years we will be partnering with “Rec4Vets.” During the day of the derby, we will be holding a silent auction and raffle next to the weigh station to benefit this great organization. 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction and raffle will be donated to them at our April 8th meeting. In addition, all those anglers that enter to fish the derby will receive a complimentary lunch provided by “Taqueria Mr. Delicioso.” A flier announcing the derby including its format is attached to this newsletter. It can also be found on our Facebook and Instagram pages and on many other local and fishing related pages. You can enter the derby NOW. To enter go to the website (www.Striper-CSBA.org).
Moving right along at our February 11, 2026 meeting I, President Baccetti, announced our fishing contest winner for February 2026. The winner was Don Longanecker. Congratulations Don! Remember, all Isleton Delta Chapter members in good standing are eligible to enter one monthly photo for our fishing photo contest.
