🎉Season’s Greetings🎉 from all of us Islesboro Affordable Property!
We are so happy to announce that on Friday, December 12th, 2025, IAP was able to hand off the keys for the recently completed 🏘️Schnur Cottages🏘️, just in time for two families to be able to celebrate the holidays in two beautiful, newly constructed homes.
🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊 🎊
Through the continued hard work of contractors (from near and far), volunteers, community members, donors, and board members (last, but not least!), we are proud to be able to continue fostering community growth and stability by providing safe housing at affordable rates.
Our newest residents are true community figures, playing key roles in our education system, municipal and emergency services departments, local trades, and food service, and truly represent who Islesboro Affordable Property set out to serve in 1989.
“To create and provide housing for full-time residents of Islesboro, thereby contributing to the maintenance of a vibrant and active year-round community.”
We of course would be remiss to not formally acknowledge a litany of key players, without whom this project could not have been completed.
- Project Manager, Pete Anderson (Janet’s husband),
- Past and current boards of directors,
- Rick Rogers, former Executive Director of IAP, who initiated this project by obtaining financial support from Maine Housing,
- Administrator, Melody Mishkin,
- numerous facilitators from Maine State Housing Authority, The Genesis Fund, and Allen Insurance Agency,
- A vast number of contractors and employees both local and from afar,
- and of course, our donors, volunteers, and community supporters.
