Island Lake Womans Club An organization of women working together to support charities in Island Lake and nearby communities. Soon after its first meeting, there were over 80 members.

History of the Island Lake Woman’s Club

In the summer of 1943, a small group of ladies founded the Island Lake Woman’s Club. At that time, approximately 350 Island Lake families were year-round residents, with a total of 72 sons and daughters in the service during World War II. The Woman’s Club sent them cards, letters, and packages. The Island Lake Woman’s Club is proud to still reach out to Vet

erans by supporting Veteran’s charities, including Soldier’s Best Friend and Valentines for Vets and supporting local charities in the Island Lake and surrounding communities. We meet monthly on the second Thursday of the month at 12:00 noon at the Island Lake Village Hall in the Senior Center with luncheon being served at 12:00 p.m. followed by the day’s business meeting.

Thank you to everyone who came out to Culver’s on Thursday to donate Valentines for Vets! We set a new record with 94 cards and $282 in enclosed cash gifts, all mailed to the Veterans Health Center. Thank you for your enthusiasm honoring our veterans.

Founded in 1943, the Island Lake Woman’s Club has a long tradition of sending gifts and letters to the troops, and we’re proud to continue that legacy.

🌷 Thank you to everyone who supported our FlowerPower fundraiser! All orders should now be delivered—just in time for this perfect bulb-planting weather.

Because of your generosity, we were able to make a donation to the North and Central Illinois Salvation Army for Thanksgiving dinners for families in need, and to the Family Health Partnership Clinic in Crystal Lake in memory of our dear member, Maura Murray Kirchner, who passed away from breast cancer in July.

The Island Lake Woman’s Club is proud to continue supporting local charities and honoring those who inspire us through their kindness and strength. 💗
