This past weekend, twelve dedicated youth from the Channel Islands YMCA Association represented their community at the 78th annual Youth & Government Sacramento Conference, joining over 2,000 participants. This four-night event provided an exceptional platform for young individuals to engage in discussions about state and federal legislation. We're very proud of our youth's commitment and passion for the program! Youth from the St. George Youth Center and represented The Channel Islands Delegation this past weekend in the annual Camp Roberts training for the California Youth & Government program. Representatives had the opportunity to learn about civic engagement, meet youth leadership candidates, and enhance debate skills, all while creating new friendships with over 2,000 youth across California. Our delegation is eager to learn more this February as we attend the annual Model Legislature & Court Conference in Sacramento for 4 days. Kudos Kiddos!

International ShakeOut Day, on the third Thursday of October, is a day of individual and community earthquake drills and other activities, organized to inspire others to get ready for big earthquakes, and to prevent disasters from becoming catastrophes. What we do to prepare now, before the next big earthquake, will determine how well we can survive and recover. ShakeOut will occur in houses, workplaces, schools, and public spaces. You can also hold your drill on any other day of the year. Register at ShakeOut.org/register to involve your family or organization.
