Hoarding disorder can become expensive very quickly — especially when every response happens in crisis mode.

Cleanouts. Storage. Pest control. Organizing. Therapy. Repeated interventions.

Families can spend thousands of dollars trying to solve the visible problem while still feeling no closer to a sustainable way forward.

The Unburied Supporter Circle was created to help supporters slow that cycle down.

Over 12 live, peer-informed sessions, we focus on understanding what actually helps, having calmer conversations, setting boundaries you can keep, and making more informed decisions before the next crisis forces another expensive reaction.

This is not about blaming families for what they’ve tried. Most people are doing the best they can with the information they have.

It’s about giving supporters better information before the next decision has to be made.

The first Unburied Supporter Circle begins September 17.

If someone you love is struggling with hoarding, you may have reached the point where you simply don't know what else to try.
You've explained. You've reasoned. You've offered to help. Maybe you've argued, cleaned, pleaded, set boundaries — and still feel like you're right back where you started.

**The Unburied Supporter Circle was created for you.**
Beginning September 17, we're bringing together friends, family members, partners and caregivers for 12 live, guided sessions focused on understanding hoarding differently, having calmer conversations, setting boundaries you can actually keep, and finding practical next steps without carrying the whole situation alone.

This isn't therapy, and it isn't another cleanout strategy. It's peer-informed support grounded in real-world experience with hoarding disorder.

Founding enrollment is **$297 for all 12 sessions**, including a private orientation and participant materials.

Spaces are limited.

Fight the Blight is grateful to announce a $25,000 grant from Staunton Farm Foundation for Strengthening Westmoreland County’s Hoarding Disorder Support Infrastructure.

This grant will help us strengthen the core infrastructure of Fight the Blight’s hoarding disorder support program by formalizing peer-support protocols, improving participant documentation and outcomes tracking, and strengthening referral and coordination processes with community partners.

Our approach begins with the person, not just the property condition. We believe support should be grounded in dignity, consent, trust, practical help, and sustainable progress.

Thank you to Staunton Farm Foundation for investing in this important work.

The recent news about Wesley Family Services discontinuing two vital senior programs — including "Open Your Heart to a Senior" — highlights a harsh reality many nonprofits are facing right now: funding is incredibly tight.

At Fight the Blight, we've proudly partnered with "Open Your Heart to a Senior" in the past to provide maintenance services to their clients in Westmoreland County. Seeing this program end due to a lack of funding is a real loss for our community.

Unfortunately, Fight the Blight is not immune to these challenges. We were recently denied two funding requests that support our property maintenance services, such as lawn care. Because of this, we've had to make a difficult decision: until the funding environment improves, we will only be able to offer maintenance services to homeowners who are facing an active code violation.

Small interventions prevent much larger costs down the road. We remain committed to helping our neighbors address underlying issues like aging and life crises before they become major problems — but we must adapt to current realities to ensure we can continue our core mission.

Thank you for your continued support as we navigate these challenges. We will keep fighting for housing stability and community revitalization in Westmoreland County.

We would like to thank the Jeannette Business Association for choosing Fight the Blight as its 50/50 fundraising recipient! We sold so many tickets and met a lot of great people. What a fun night! Every other Thursday this summer the JBA has a totally free concert and food truck event right downtown at the amphitheater. Check it out, you will be glad you did!
