TAKE THE PICTURE.

If your loved one is offered a visitation photo, take it.

To many people on the outside, it may seem like a small thing.

But for the incarcerated person, that photo can mean everything.

It becomes a reminder of love.
A reminder of family.
A reminder that they have not been forgotten.
A reminder of who they’re fighting to come home to.

A federal judge ruled that the infamous summer conditions in Texas prisons violated inmates’ Eighth Amendment rights. A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesperson said the department plans to appeal the ruling.

One letter can change a week.

When you’re incarcerated, the world outside keeps moving.

Birthdays happen. Families gather. Kids grow up. Friends get busy. And sometimes the silence from home becomes louder than anything happening inside those walls.

That’s why something as simple as a letter matters.

A few handwritten words can remind someone:

You are remembered.
You are prayed for.
Your life still has purpose.
Your story is not finished.

At Least of These Prison Ministries, we believe encouragement is ministry.

Sometimes it looks like helping someone prepare for parole. Sometimes it’s connecting them with resources when they come home.

And sometimes it’s simply making sure somebody behind the walls knows they have not been forgotten.

What if you came home tomorrow… with almost nothing?

For many men and women leaving prison, freedom is only the beginning.

A valid ID. A safe place to live. A job. Transportation. A phone. Rebuilding trust. Staying sober. Meeting parole requirements. Learning how to live life on the outside again.

Those things may sound simple — until you’re trying to do all of them at once.

That’s where Least of These Prison Ministries wants to stand in the gap.

We believe in accountability. We believe in redemption. And we believe a person’s worst chapter does not have to be their final one.

Sometimes a second chance starts with something small: a ride to an appointment, help finding resources, a Bible, a phone call, a letter of encouragement, or simply having someone say, “You’re not doing this alone.”

September is Su***de Awareness Month.

People in prison are often carrying more than a sentence.

They may be carrying trauma, depression, grief, fear, shame, mental illness, and the crushing weight of isolation.

And sometimes, they carry it alone.

Su***de and self-harm remain serious concerns in correctional facilities. That should matter to all of us.

No matter what someone has done, their life still has value.

If you have a loved one who is incarcerated, don’t underestimate the power of staying connected. A letter, a phone call, a message, or a prayer may be more important than you realize.

At Least of These Prison Ministries, we believe hope belongs behind bars too.

Every tax-deductible donation helps you continue the mission of serving incarcerated men and women, And supporting their families and helping individuals successfully transition back into society through faith, encouragement, and practical resources. ☀️ It’s another brutally hot Texas summer.

Today, many of us will walk into an air-conditioned home, office, or vehicle without giving it a second thought.

But for thousands of incarcerated men and women across Texas, that isn’t their reality.

Many live in housing areas without air conditioning, where summer temperatures can become dangerous. Extreme heat in Texas prisons has been the subject of years of concern, lawsuits, and legislative debate.

Whether someone is incarcerated or not, heat doesn’t stop being dangerous.

If you have a loved one in a Texas prison, one simple way to help is by purchasing an approved fan for eligible inmates through the Texas Department of Criminal Justice’s FanDirect program. For many families, it’s a small act of love that can make the summer a little more bearable.

Today, let’s remember to be grateful for the freedoms and comforts we often take for granted—including something as simple as air conditioning.

And let’s not forget those who are still someone’s son, daughter, father, mother, brother, or sister.
