Today we are remembering by honoring their sacrifice. Members of our community are sharing their photos and this one spoke volumes. What they paid for in blood, our community is honoring in sweat and tears. It is humbling to see many people silently honoring those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. We are here today because of the shoulders of giants we have the privilege to stand on. Thank you to every family member who holds today with heavy hearts, thank you to every service member who carries the burden of remembrance. We will always honor and respect their sacrifices.

Nef was a deeply loved part of our family, a man whose strength, kindness, and character touched everyone who knew him. He served our country bravely, embodying courage and selflessness, and in his everyday life he was just as remarkable, an amazing father, devoted husband, and loyal friend. Nef was the kind of man who would do anything for anyone, always putting others before himself and offering support without hesitation. He was a unique light in this world, someone whose presence made life better simply by being in it. He is loved more than words can express, and he will be missed beyond measure. We are truly honored to have known him and to have been part of his extraordinary life. Please keep his family in your prayers during this difficult time. We have shared a GoFundMe link at the top of our page if you feel led to support his family as they mourn the loss of such a great man.

A Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) happens when a bump, blow, jolt, or blast causes the brain to move inside the skull, disrupting how it functions. TBIs can occur from falls, car accidents, sports injuries, or blast/overpressure exposure.

TBIs range from mild (concussions) to severe, and symptoms aren’t always immediate or visible on scans. Headaches, brain fog, mood changes, sleep problems, and sensitivity to light or noise are all common.

“Mild” does not mean insignificant. TBIs can have lasting effects, especially when injuries are repeated.

Education is the first step toward healing, rehabilitation, and empowerment.

This Christmas, we are pausing to reflect on the strength, resilience, and courage of those living with traumatic brain injury and post-traumatic stress. While the holidays can bring joy, they can also bring challenges that no one should face them alone.

At Brain Treatment Foundation, our mission remains clear: to educate, rehabilitate, and empower individuals and families on the path toward healing. We are deeply grateful for our community of survivors, caregivers, clinicians, and supporters who bring hope where it’s needed most.

May this Christmas bring moments of peace, comfort, and renewed strength. From our foundation family to yours, we wish you a Christmas filled with compassion, understanding, and light.

The holidays can be overwhelming for people living with TBI and PTSD due to fatigue, sensory overload, and changes in routine. It’s okay to slow down, set boundaries, take breaks, and prioritize rest, quiet, and emotional well-being. Healing isn’t linear, compassion for yourself and flexibility in traditions matter more than doing it all.

Knowledge is one of our strongest tools for driving solutions and advocating for better healing. This year brought a wave of new research on Traumatic Brain Injury in veterans, and we’re encouraged to see the conversation growing and new paths for care being explored.
