In 1988 the idea of a community band was born through the vision of the Irving Parks and Recreation Department. Jay L.

The Irving Symphonic Band is a performing ensemble comprised of players with diverse musical backgrounds, including community professionals, former high school / college players, and adults - all of whom perform challenging literature for the community. The band continued to grow and under the direction of Robert J. Brule registered as a 501(c)3 organization in 1990. Through the years, distinguish

ed guests such as David Holsinger, Francis McBeth, Dr. Alfred Green, and Captain Lewis J. Buckley have shared their talents with the band and the community of Irving. Bach now leads the band and continues to inspire ISB members and community patrons with music for all seasons! ISB Mission

Our mission is to provide our citizens with quality music through our concerts and provide a musical outlet for our members. ISB Personnel

Our band is comprised of people with diverse musical backgrounds. Many of our members are full time band directors and musicians. However, the majority of our members work in professions not related to music but have a desire to continue playing challenging music. Our members are adults who have either continued to play their instrument since college or high school or have become "reacquainted" with their instrument over the past few years. No matter where we work during the day, the same desire to create great music brings us together on Thursday evenings.

ABOUT: All Aboard!! Take a journey with the Irivng Symphonic Band as we travel to the North Pole. When Christmas comes to town, it's the best time of the year. Presents, lights, gathering with family and playing favorite tunes reminds us of excitement and woner of the holidays.

From swirling melodies to moments of hushed anticipation; the music of the Polar Express invites audiences of all ages to climb aboard and rediscover the childlike joy of Christmas. May those who truly believe always hear the bell.
