Our hearts are broken as we mourn the passing of Margie Stipes — a cherished friend, devoted community leader, passionate advocate for students and teachers, and the proud namesake of Stipes Elementary School. Her kindness, generosity, and unwavering commitment to education touched countless lives across Irving, and her absence will be deeply felt throughout our community. 🤍

A proud Irving resident since 1955, Margie dedicated her life to serving her community and uplifting generations of students and families. She worked for 30 years at American Airlines, where she received the company’s prestigious Customer First Award, while also giving tirelessly to Irving schools and civic organizations.

Margie’s impact across Irving was extraordinary. She served on multiple bond program committees, the city’s Charter Review Committee, was president of the High School Booster Club, and was a longtime member of both the Keep Irving Beautiful Board and the Irving Schools Foundation Board of Directors. Her service earned countless honors, including the High Spirited Citizen Award, the Greater Irving Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award, the Irving Schools Foundation Legacy Award, multiple PTA service awards, and induction into the Irving Sports Hall of Fame in 2014.

Her greatest legacy, however, lives on in the students, teachers, hallways, and classrooms of John and Margie Stipes Elementary School — a place that proudly carries her name and reflects her unwavering belief in the power of education.

Her love for all students in Irving ISD will forever be remembered, and her legacy of learning is etched into the hearts of so many throughout our community.

We are holding her family, friends, former students, colleagues, and all who knew and loved her in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. 💙

Last night’s board meeting was full of inspiration as we reflected on the impact we’ve made together this year and looked ahead to exciting events to come this summer and fall.

One of the highlights was hearing from Aaron Saenz, MacArthur High School senior and ISF scholarship recipient, who recently represented students at a national press conference with the U.S. Department of Labor in Washington, D.C. His story is a powerful reminder of why our mission matters. ❤️

A huge thank you to the incredible ISF Gala Committee for their heart for our community and hands-on support of our Food for Thought program. Last week, they answered the call for help and 800 food bags were packed for students in need. 👏🏼💙

A huge thank you to The Nelson Golf and Sports Club for being an incredible supporter of ISF over the past 3 years! 💚

We are honored to be their Charity of Choice and grateful for their amazing team and generous members who always show up, give back, and step up whenever there is a need.

To show our appreciation, students helped us create meaningful gifts that represent the impact they are making on the future of our community — including a special art piece created by our elementary students for having a “hand” in their future 🖐️, a Top Donors plaque designed and made by our middle school 3D printer program funded through our Spark Tank grant, and locally produced honey from our Irving ISD Outdoor Learning Center at Singley Academy. ✨

Thank you for believing in our mission and investing in our students!
