Irving Sunrise Rotary has been a dynamic part of Irving as well as the surrounding communities, country and our world since its beginnings in 1987. We contribute to our community through many programs such as the Back to School program, school supplies to those in need, blood drives, leadership camps to our local youth and many other community outreach programs. We continue annually to support pro
grams such as Shoes For Orphan Souls. This program provides new shoes and socks to orphans and vulnerable children in the United States and throughout the world. We are also a catalyst in world-wide programs that supply water by creating water wells to provide clean, pure drinking water. In 2011 Irving Sunrise Rotary provided a much needed well in Niamey, Africa. We continue to fight against polio by providing medical supplies as well as the polio vaccine to those countries still fighting this deadly and crippling disease. Since 2014 we have sponsored one of our very own Rotarians who is a dentist. He went on a medical mission trip to Santo Domingo to serve the oral health needs of the Santo Domingo and surrounding communities. Realizing good oral health is important for overall good health, we found this to be a wonderful service program. Irving Sunrise has also been an outreach to our military not only overseas but here at home in the military hospitals. Care packages, Christmas Cards, and monetary support for equipment and medical supplies to Veterans hospitals in Texas are a just a few of our projects we have been proud to be a part of in service.
