At Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, performance below the surface supports everything above it. With up to 260,000 passengers moving through daily and aircrafts like the Boeing 777 weighing nearly one million pounds, the new hardstand drainage system had to perform under extreme conditions. Installed 20 to 30 feet below grade, ADS HP Storm Dual Wall corrugated polypropylene ( ) pipe was selected over traditional reinforced concrete to address North Texas’ challenging clay soils and the risk of soil migration caused by cycles of drought and heavy rainfall. The result is a system designed to help protect the pavement structure, maintain subgrade integrity and deliver long-term performance at one of the nation’s busiest airports

⭐ Check out this great picture from Crumpler Plastic Pipe, Inc. that showcases how can be nested to fit more pipe on a single trailer ⭐

The pic demonstrates how when you use corrugated HDPE pipe you can haul more pipe in a single load to the job site. More pipe on a single trailer means fewer loads are required for the overall project and that the project can begin sooner. Because the pipe is lightweight it can be manufactured and transported in longer lengths, requires less equipment onsite to handle, is safer to handle and the longer lengths also mean there fewer joints. All of this results in more pipe being laid in a single day.

The bipartisan BUILD America 250 Act includes a five-year reauthorization of the federal Surface Transportation Program. This represents a historic investment in roads, bridges, transit, rail and safety while strengthening the Highway Trust Fund and improving project delivery efficiency. The offices of Representative Rick Larsen, D-WA, and Representative Sam Graves, R-MO, reached out to PPI for support of this act and PPI has been working with those representatives to draft a letter of support.

⭐ Check out this short clip from Fratco and when you pass a green farm field this summer keep in mind how provides drainage to increase crop yields. ⭐

This clip from Liles Enterprises showcases the installation of FlexCorr corrugated HDPE drain tile from Fratco. Note how the coil with 680 fool long lengths of pipe reduces the number of joints and aids in efficient installation. In this case the dual-wall pipe with smooth interior increases water flow and allows the use of a smaller 8" pipe rather than a larger 10" single wall pipe to move the same amount of water.
