Now WHY would the Pope undergo surgery to remove a cancer that Jesus put there? Or why didn't the Pope just pray it away? ALSO, surgical removal of a portion of the Pope's body runs into the same problem as organ donation. Popes cannot be organ donors because their bodies must be buried intact so they can be properly "venerated" (worshipped) and eventually parceled out as holy relics.

Pope Leo had successful surgery to remove a lower lobe of his right lung, the Vatican said.
