The Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) has released new Requests for Proposals (RFPs), including five new medical student grants, five new resident grants, and an ApolloMD-sponsored grant focused on emergency physician health and well-being.

Additional funding opportunities include:

Meet the future of emergency medicine research. 🔬🩺

We’re proud to introduce the Emergency Medicine Foundation’s 2026–27 Medical Student Research Grant awardees—emerging investigators taking on questions that matter to emergency physicians and the patients they serve.

From fracture detection and social determinants of health to cerebral oximetry, pelvic pain evaluation, and point-of-care ultrasound, these medical students are beginning their research careers by tackling real challenges in emergency care.

EMF is proud to invest in the next generation of emergency medicine researchers and help build the pipeline of investigators who will shape the future of the specialty.

Meet EMF’s 2026–27 Resident Research Grant awardees — emerging investigators asking important questions about trauma, health care policy, emergency department operations, and access to treatment.

Their projects explore the body’s anticoagulant response to severe injury, the financial impact of the No Surprises Act on emergency patients, how hospital mergers and acquisitions affect emergency care, and expanding access to methadone through the emergency department.

Supported in partnership with EMRA, these grants help resident researchers turn promising questions into evidence that can shape the future of emergency medicine.

Meet more of EMF’s 2026–27 grant awardees, researchers advancing emergency care through innovative approaches to stroke identification, pediatric head trauma, and acute ischemic stroke.

From using natural language processing to identify strokes during 9-1-1 calls, to exploring point-of-care brain MRI for children with head trauma, to studying real-time assessment of fibrinolysis, their work is helping build the evidence that moves emergency medicine forward.
